currently roaming the United States only
Some of the leading mobile carriers in the United States have shut down their 3G networks and completed their migration to 4G and 5G technologies. These network changes will deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra-low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity as well as increased availability and agility, and also has the potential to deliver new roaming experiences and connect new industries. This change will impact everyone, from anywhere in the world, traveling to and roaming within the USA.
We know that our customers will have questions and concerns about these changes and Digicel is committed to keeping you informed so that you are able to manage the transition and have the smoothest possible roaming experience while visiting the USA.

You will not be able to utilise 3G services while roaming in the United States on a 3G device, regardless of the US network you are roaming on. This is due to the closure of the 3G networks in the US. We are working daily with both these companies to resolve this issue as a matter of urgency.
In order to make and receive voice calls, you will need a VoLTE enabled mobile handset.
Your 3G phone will continue to work on the Digicel network as normal.
While we engage US carriers on testing alternative solutions that will allow for improved voice roaming, we recommend our customers upgrade their phones to VoLTE enable devices.
Yes, however you MUST enable data roaming before you can roam. For voice services, we strongly recommend a VoLTE enabled handset to have the greatest chance of being able to use voice roaming services.

iPhone: Settings > Mobile Data > Network Selection > Disable “Automatic” > Select a network > Check for connection and carrier name, “T-Mobile”.
*Steps may vary according to your device make and model.

Now, staying in touch when you are abroad is no hassle! Make and receive calls and use the internet while you travel with your Digicel phone in all DigiRoam territories, USA, UK, Canada plus over 300 networks worldwide. Pay as you go or select one of our plans that allow you to access even lower rates than ever before in applicable destinations!
How can you control the charges?
Using the internet on your phone while you are roaming carries a charge just as making a call and sending a text message does.
If you would like to avoid data charges, consider the following options:
1. Activate a roaming plan . Once you activate it, you can use your Digicel phone in DigiRoam territories, the USA, UK and Canada plus over 300 networks worldwide just like you were home.
2. Avoid unexpected data charges by switching off mobile data. If mobile data is switched on whilst you're connected to Wi-Fi, your phone could switch over to using the mobile data connection if the Wi-Fi signal is weak. When this happens, data charges as per roaming rates would apply.
Here's how you can turn off your mobile data connection on your phone:

Also please note that to use the Volte service, roaming data must be enabled and if the customer does not have an applicable roaming plan activated, the customer must 'opt in' to use data either via the My Digicel App, dialing *323# or also via the 'pop up' notification the customer will receive when connected to the roaming partner network.

GENERAL RULES:
Restart: A restart is fundamental while roaming as it allows your handset to attempt registering on an international network. This will assist with troubleshooting if required. When you return home a restart is also important seeing that your handset may still be registered on a foreign network.
Manual Network Search: Most handsets should automatically update to the strongest available network. We, however, recommend that you always do a manual search for relevant roaming partners. While roaming in the US the preferred roaming networks are AT&T and T Mobile. In Canada, the preferred networks are Rogers, Bell and Telus. Learn how to change your network below.
Here's how you can change your network when roaming.

VOICE:
Dialing Format: Always ensure that the correct international dialing format is utilized for each call being made while roaming. To call home, “+1868” must be in front of the 7 digit number. To call the US “+1” must be placed in front the 10 digit number. To make things easier, store numbers in the international format.
DATA:
Check the APN: Using data on your mobile device while roaming requires the correct Access Point Name (APN) Address on your handset along with “Mobile Data” and “Data Roaming” options to be selected. The correct Access Point Name (APN) is “web.digiceltt.com”. Always verify this information is correct to ensure connection to a partner’s data network.
