1.  What is MMS?

MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. Whenever you send a text with an attached file like a picture, video or document you're sending a MMS.

 

2.  Why are we decommissioning the MMS service?

Due to minimal public use and the availability of superior options.

 

3.  What alternative routes can customers use to send pictures, emojis etc in a text format?

Customers can use apps that also perform the same actions as MMS. Examples of such apps are BiP, WhatsApp which has dedicated data in our Prime Bundle.

 

4.   Can customers still send text messages?

Yes, customers can still utilize the SMS service.

 

5.     Will iMessages also be affected by the decommissioning of MMS?

 Messages sent through iMessage to other iPhones do not use SMS/MMS. It operates using a service similar to whatsApp and Bip.

Messages sent through iMessage to Android phones will send over SMS and will be affected.

 

6.  Can customers download other apps that can send MMS to utilize the service?

 Yes, customers can download apps from Google playstore (android users) or App store (Apple /iPhone users).
