White Sunday to’onai and lavalava for 130 families covered by Digicel

Sunday, 13 October 2019 – Apia, Samoa –The White Sunday rush began earlier this week when all supermarkets and stores were packed with people getting their shopping sorted, mainly food and clothing for the children. This year Digicel has stepped in to assist one hundred and thirty families with its Opt in and Win Promotion.

The Promotion started towards the end of August and ended first week of October. Customers who opted in to any Supa Seki data plan or All in One, daily or weekly plan were eligible to go into the draw to win a share of fifty thousand tala worth of shopping vouchers. Thirty customers would win $500 shopping vouchers and fifty each for the $400 and $300 shopping vouchers.

The winners were drawn on Wednesday 9 October, in the presence of GCA staff. All one hundred and thirty winners were given the choice to select any store they would want to spend their winning vouchers.

“When I received the call, there was a sigh of relief as I have had bad experiences in the past few years. Either we missed out on the good specials because we were late or we did not receive the money from our families overseas. Thanks to Digicel, we are able to cover this days ahead, we appreciate this very much” says Savelina Savusa of Falealupo, one of the $500 tala shopping voucher winners.

“It was really important for me to show up to collect my prize, I wanted to thank Digicel in person, excited as well that last week I was unsure about how White Sunday to’onai would be or look like, this week, I definitely am”, says Vickie Siatini of Saleaumua.

Digicel CEO, Farid Mohammed says “It should always be the customers decision, what their families need and what suits them best, it is important to be considerate of that. So for this White Sunday, we are happy to give one hundred and thirty families in Samoa a helping hand on those expenses. We understand that this particular occasion will be filled with joy and smiles on the kid’s faces and their families as they celebrate, we also remember and are thinking about the children we have lost this year and their families”

Digicel would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the children and families of Samoa, a Happy and Joyous White Sunday.
