Wednesday, 26th September 2018 – Apia, Samoa – Digicel customers are experiencing world class downloading, streaming and browsing with faster speeds than ever before, thanks to the completion of Digicel’s network upgrade and on-going transition to 4G+ connectivity.
The network upgrade project which started in October last year focused on upgrading the network’s core service and towers to achieve ninety percent population coverage in Samoa. The project roll-out was also in anticipation of the Tui Samoa cable which launched in March earlier this year. With Digicel being the first company to commit and sign onto the cable, customers were immediately able to reap the benefits with the launch of the Supa Seki data plans which provided significant increases in data value propositions at lower and more affordable costs. Customers in the greater Apia and on the golden mile stretch past the Faleolo airport and Mulifanua wharf, including densely populated areas in Savaii and Upolu are connecting on 4G+.
“Digicel’s 4G+ coverage in Samoa is now better than a lot of first world countries, which is really exciting for us. Digicel is fully committed to the governments vision of a connected Samoa and we have invested considerably to bring the best service possible to market. We are also offering real value data plans and 4G+ products to make the most of this upgraded network. It’s a very exciting time for our company and our consumers” said CEO, Farid Mohammed.
