Digicel Donates Computers To The Althea Scatliffe Primary School

AS 5

Tuesday, 3rd December 2019: Tortola, British Virgin Islands: Digicel is continuing its commitment to supporting education in the BVI by donating fifteen computers to the Althea Scatliffe Primary School as part of its Share More Christmas campaign. The donation is part of Digicel's ongoing commitment to the school, which it adopted in 2016, as part of the Virgin Islands Adopt-A-School Programme.

Principal of the Althea Scatliffe Primary School, Ms. Marieta C. Flax-Headley, commented, "The computers will be a welcome addition to our new Learning Resource Centre, where our students can complete online research and hone their IT skills. On behalf of the mighty, mighty Scatliffe, I say thank you, Digicel, for your continued support."

The new Resource Centre will be a place of continued learning for students with reading materials, art supplies, and access to Wi-Fi and computers. After losing the Public Library in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, the Resource Centre is a multi-functional space to expand student learning.

Digicel Marketing Executive Timothy Barker, commented, “Digicel made an ongoing commitment when we adopted the Althea Scatliffe Primary School and as such, enhancing the learning opportunities for students is very important to us. The donated computers will provide students with internet access, the opportunity to improve their IT skills, and expand their research capabilities. It’s great to be able to share more with the children this Christmas.”

"Having adequate skills and basic IT proficiency in programs like Microsoft Word are tools with which everybody needs to work effectively. Thanks to the donation from Digicel, our students will have more learning time online to perfect their skills." finished Flax-Headley.

After pleding its support in 2016, Digicel has made numerouse contributions to the Althea Sctaliffe Primary School. In 2018, Digicel completed a refurbishment project providing new generators, windows, hurricane shutters, paintwork and fans.
