Easy Roaming Plan

1.  What is the Digicel Easy Roaming Plan?

Digicel’s Easy Roaming Plan allows postpaid & prepaid customers to enjoy data to browse, stream and share while roaming in 28 countries worldwide. Digicel’s Easy Roaming Plans are packed with data allotments, free incoming calls and texts, plus access to reduced calling rates.

 

2.  What services will I be able to utilise with an active Easy Roaming Plan?

As a Digicel customer, you will benefit from the following services while on an active Easy Roaming Plan:

  • Data allotments - 100 MBs, 700MBs or 3GB
  • FREE incoming calls and text messages
  • Access to reduced rates for outgoing calls
  • Send anywhere text messages (On-net/Off-Net/International) for one low rate

 

3.  Who is the Easy Roaming Plan for?

  • If you are a prepaid or postpaid Digicel customer, the Easy Roaming Plan is for you. 
  • If you are a Closed User Group (CUG) customer, a request should be made from the administrator of the CUG in order to have the Easy Roaming Plan activated. 

 

4.  How does Digicel’s Easy Roaming Plan work?

Prepaid and Postpaid customers will be able to purchase a 1-day, 7-day or 30-day Easy Roaming Plan from Digicel.

Customers on an active Easy Roaming Plan will benefit from lower outgoing voice and text messaging rates, free incoming calls and SMS plus data allotment while roaming within the 28 participating countries.

Another great benefit that comes with the introduction of our Easy Roaming Plans is that there are no overage charges. Once your data allotment has been exhausted, data roaming will be discontinued rather than going into overage. If you are a prepaid customer, you will receive a text message advising you to purchase a new Easy Roaming Plan or as a postpaid customer will have the option to purchase a new plan. Voice and text messages will still be available at the reduced rate for the duration of the Roaming Plan.

Once your Easy Roaming Plan has expired, calls, text messages and data will revert to the standard roaming rates. 

 

5.  Where can customers use the new Easy Roaming Plans?

Customers with an active Easy Roaming Plan will be able to use it in 28 territories without distinction of network.  Other countries will be added in phases:

6.  Can I use the new Easy Roaming Plans with the existing roaming plans from Digicel?

Digicel’s new Easy Roaming Plans are simple to use, easy to understand and for the first time, gives customers access to data while roaming – a feature that is not included in any other Digicel roaming plan. The Easy Roaming Plan is therefore not compatible with any other existing roaming plan - Roam Like You’re Home - which means, customers cannot transit from the Easy Roaming Plans to RLYH.

NOTE: RLYH will be decommissioned at launch.

 

7.  How can I activate the Easy Roaming Plans?

As a Digicel customer, you can purchase a Roaming Plan via the My Digicel app or via UMM  while in local and other roaming destinations. These activation points are free to access for prepaid and postpaid customers in any country that Digicel has a roaming agreement.

 

8.  Are postpaid customers required to have an additional roaming deposit in order to activate the Plan?

No. There is no additional roaming deposit required. Once you confirm activation of your preferred Easy Roaming Plan, it will be activated. If roaming was not previously enabled on your account, it will be automatically enabled once a Roaming Plan is active.

 

9.  How do I check my data balance and Easy Roaming Plan expiration?

You will be able to check your data balance using:

  • MyDigicel App
  • *140# for Prepaid subs

 

10.  Will I be able to keep my data when my Easy Roaming Plan expires?

No, however, as long as you opt in for auto-renew, your unused data will be rolled over to your newly activated Easy Roaming Plan. When your Easy Roaming Plan is expired, the following will happen:

  • As a prepaid customer, an expiry text message will be sent to you 2 days and 1 day before your Easy Roaming Plan expires. The text message will remind you of the expiry and advise you that you may opt-in to automatic renewal to save your unused data.
  • Postpaid customers will receive an initial expiry text message 4 days then 2 days and 1 day before the Roaming Plan expires. 
  • On the date of expiry, you will receive a final text message advising that the Easy Roaming Plan is expired and that standard roaming rate will apply.
  • If you did not opt in for automatic renewal, your unused data will also expire and no longer be available for use.

 

11.  How do I renew my Easy Roaming Plan?

You will be able to opt in for automatic renewal by going to the My Digicel app or by using the short code (*140#) before the plan expires.

  • Prepaid - Two (2) notification messages will be received before your Easy Roaming Plan expires (2 days and 1 day before) advising you how to opt-in to automatic renewal.
  • Postpaid – Three (3) notification messages will be received before your Easy Roaming Plan expires (4 days, 2 days and 1 day before) advising you how to opt-in to automatic renewal.

Note: If you have an active 1 day Easy Roaming Plan, you will receive one (1) text message notification 12 hours prior to expiration.

 

12.  How do I cancel my Easy Roaming Plan?

Your Easy Roaming Plan cannot be cancelled after activation.

  • During the activation process you may cancel the activation request.
  • Once activated, the Plan will only expire at the end of the subscription period i.e. 1 day, 7 days and 30 days, after purchase.

 

13.  What will happen if I exhaust my data allotment before the Easy Roaming Plan expires?

We believe that our customers should be able to roam freely without worrying about huge data charges. As such, overage is automatically blocked.

This means that once your data allotment is exhausted and you attempt to browse, you will receive a text message encouraging you to buy a new Easy Roaming Plan by dialing *140# (prepaid). Once you dial *140# or access available Plans through MyDigicel app, you will be given the following options: 

i. Prepaid:

  • Transit to another Plan duration.
  • Repurchase current Plan.

ii. Postpaid:

  • Transit to higher Plan duration.
  • Repurchase current Plan

 

14.  Will my unused Plan rollover to my new Plan if I transit to another one or renew my current Plan?

Yes. Unused data will rollover to your new Plan if you transit to another Plan or renew your current Plan before it expires. This is capped at 50GB.

 

15.  Will I be prompted to opt in to automatic renewal?

Yes. You will get a message prompting you to automatically renew your existing Plan or not.

  • Prepaid customers will receive the renewal notification 2 days and 1 day before Plan expiry.
  • Except for the 1 day Plan, a notification is received 12 hours before Plan expiry.  
  • Postpaid customers will receive the renewal notification 4 days, 2 days and 1 day before Plan expiry.
  • Except for the 1 day Plan, a notification is received 12 hours before Plan expiry.

 

16.  Will I be charged to download the MyDigicel app while roaming?

Yes, downloading the MyDigicel app from the Play or Apple store will incur data charges while roaming.

 

17.  Will I be able to activate the old Digicel Roaming Plans?

No. The Easy Roaming Plans will replace the RLYH which will be decommissioned at launch.

 

18.  What will happen if there is an active Roam Like You’re Home Plan on my account when the Easy Roaming Plans launch?

  • If you are already on an active Roam Like You’re Home, you will be allowed to continue using your Plan allotments for its duration.
  • Customers will however not be able to renew the Plans once expired.

 

19.  If I should travel from one of the eligible countries to another while my Plan is still active, will I need to activate another Plan in order to continue to benefit?

No. Once the Easy Roaming Plan is active on your account you will not need to re-activate if you are travelling from one eligible country to another.

 

20.  What will happen if I do not have available credit on my main balance?

If there is insufficient credit on the account while the Easy Roaming Plan is active, you will not be able to make calls or send text messages; however you will be able to continue receiving calls FREE of charge.

  • You will be able to continue accessing data available on your account. Once depleted, if there is no credit available on your account, you will not be able to browse.
  • You may purchase credit for your prepaid account using any of Digicel’s top-up methods.
  • You may make payments on your postpaid account using online methods.

 

21.  Do I have to activate the Easy Roaming Plan before I travel?

No. Activation can be done before or while roaming.

Note: You are required to connect to a network that allows the use of short codes. Alternatively, Digicel’s Easy Roaming Plan may be activated via the MyDigicel app.

 

22.  If I activate the Easy Roaming Plan before roaming, will the Plan rates apply immediately?

  • No. The Plan rates are only applicable when roaming and connected to a network.
  • Once you are in St. Vincent you will be charged at your respective rate Plans and benefit from local promotions and products until you start to roam.

 

23.  If I have bonus credit on my account, can this credit be used while roaming?

No. Bonus credit is a local offer and will not be available for use while roaming.

 

24.  Will I be able to browse at 3G or 4G speeds with a 3G or 4G capable handset?

You will only browse at 3G or 4G speeds if you are connected to a 3G or 4G network.

 

25.  Will my local data plan still be valid while on this Plan?

No, while roaming and on the Easy Roaming Plan, your local data plan is not valid. You will not be able to browse at the overage rate once you exhaust the data that is included in the Plan.

 

26.  Will I be able to contact Customer Care while roaming?

  • Yes. You can dial +1-784-528-7626 (ROAM) in order to contact Customer Care while roaming.
  • Contacting Customer Care while roaming with an active Roaming Plan, will be charged same rate as if calling a Digicel number.
  • Alternatively, you may also use the web chat feature within the MyDigicel app to contact customer care.

 

27.  How do I get to my voicemail while roaming?

  • Dial 1784-526-0000 to get to your voicemail.
  • Contacting voicemail while roaming will be charged at the same rate as if calling a Digicel number.
