Postpaid Extras

1.  What are Postpaid Extras?

Digicel will be offering postpaid extra plans that will allow customers to customise and build their postpaid plan. Postpaid consumers will now have the option to add additional bundles to their rate plans to cater to their specific needs and usage patterns.

2.  How does it work?

Postpaid consumers will utilize USSD codes, to add predefined Digicel Extras to their existing or new postpaid plans.

Steps:

1) New customers sign up on a postpaid consumer rate plan. I.e. POSTPAID 100, Postpaid 120, affinity plans or any of the new plans available – see question 13.

2) Existing postpaid customers can remain on their current rate plans

3) Customer decide from the various “extras” bundles (e.g. voice minutes, , international voice BUNDLES, BLACKBERRY bundles etc) they want to add to their postpaid plan

4) Customer dials the self service USSD string associated with the chosen extras

5) CAIN (the system) will check the customers’ account status to ensure they have sufficient credit on their account. Subscribers must have sufficient funds on their account and should not reach their credit limit before or during the subscription of Digicel Extras services as they will not be able to subscribe.

6) Customer will receive a response from the application via A TEXT MESSAGE  to chose the level of bolt-on plan they would like to select (e.g. 30, 60 or 120 bundled minutes etc)

7) Once the customer selects the “extra”  of their choice it will be added to their plan and last for 30 days or until their bundle is exhausted (bundles do NOT coincide with billing cycle, but instead commences when activation of bolt-on is done via USSD)

3.  Can all postpaid customers subscribe for the services offered?

Yes, ALL Postpaid consumers would be able to add bolt-on bundles; both NEW and existing postpaid plans.

4.  How do I subscribe?

Customers can subscribe for any Digicel Extras package by using the USSD assigned for the package- see question 12. Digicel Extras subscription is a self serve option for customers.

5.  Does my ‘Digicel Extras” subscription/s roll over if I have any unused portion of bundles? 

No, unused portion of bundles from your ‘Digicel Extras” subscriptions do NOT roll over after 30 days.

6.  Can I Query the plan expiry date at any time? 

- Yes by dialing *USSDCODE*QRY# (*USSDCODE*779#). In this message, Subs will be advised that they can dial *USSDCODE*selectioncode# for further details such as remaining minutes in their plan.

- For example for the 300 International minutes plan the process may look like:

A. subs dials *200*779#

 - Receives the following SMS: Your plan ^PLAN_NAME^ will expire on ^EXPIRE_DATE^. Please dial *200*10# to view your remaining minutes.

 B. sub dials *200*10# 

- Receives the following SMS: You have 300 minutes remaining

7.  What happens after my bundle is exhausted before the 30 day period, can I renew?

Customers cannot renew Digicel Extras within 30 days of an active bolt-on even bolt-on units (minutes, TEXT MESSAGES etc) are exhausted

8.  What happens if I’m close to OR have reached my CL and my 30 day subscription to Digicel Extras has elapsed?

The renewal will fail and not take place. Customer will receive message that they do not have sufficient funds to register. 

- For example the 60 min plan subs will receive the following: Sorry you do not have sufficient funds to activate this plan, please check your account balance and make a payment to your account to use this service.

9.  How Do I renew my Digicel Extras plan?

All “extras” plans will renew automatically after 30 days unless a customer (opts out before end of 30 days). Customers will receive a TEXT MESSAGE  advising them that the plan will be ending within 48 hours AND THEN 24HOURS (2 MESSAGES RECEIVED) and they can dial a specific code to opt out- this code will be provided in TEXT MESSAGE

10.  Are my “Digicel Extras’ subscription fee/s pro-rated? 

Activation charges of Digicel Extras are not prorated with billing cycle. Digicel Extras period does not correspond with postpaid billing period

- Example: Mr. Jones activated the 300 International minutes as his “Digicel Extras” on the 22nd September (his bill cycle runs from the 16th September-15th October). Since his billing cycle has already started and ‘Digicel Extras” subscriptions are valid for 30days from the date of activation, the subscription fee for the “Digicel Extras” will appear in his invoice for the period September 16th-October 15th . His subscription for the 250 International minutes will not be pro rated but will be fully charged for the 30 day period.

11.  Why does my “Digicel Extras” subscription appear in my current bill and 30 days has not elapsed? 

Customer’s ‘Digicel Extras’ subscriptions will appear in their bill once they have subscribed within a billing cycle ( either first day, middle or end) as the charges are registered once they have activated. However, if they have exceeded their bundle and are using out of bundle, the charges will appear in the next bill if the current bill cycle has ended.

- Eg. Mr. Jones got his bill for the period 16th September -15th October, and he saw the charge for his 250 International minutes that he subscribed for on the 22nd September. He used an additional 100 minutes on the 18th October, on his October 16th –November 15thinvoice he’ll see the charge for the additional 100 minutes he used.

Local Voice Minutes Extra: 

1. Minutes can be used at any time for any domestic call whether to Digicel or another local mobile or landline number.

2. Unused minutes will not roll over after the thirty (30) day period

3. Minutes cannot be transferred to another account or other subscribers.

4. The charging order for usage of minutes will be the bundled minutes in the Customer’s postpaid plan, then the bundled minutes in the Extra and then any other minutes under promotions existing at the time.

5. Subscribers cannot subscribe to more than one Local Voice Minute Extra concurrently, that is once already subscribed to a Local Voice Minute Extra

 International Voice Minutes Extra:

1. Minutes can be used at any time for international calls to the United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom landlines and Ireland landlines.

2. Unused minutes will not roll over after the thirty (30) day period.

3. Minutes cannot be transferred to another account or other subscribers.

4. The charging order for usage of minutes will be the bundled minutes in the Customer’s postpaid plan, then the bundled minutes in the Extra and then any other minutes under promotions existing at the time.

5. Subscribers cannot subscribe to more than one International Voice Minute Extra concurrently, which is once already subscribed to an International Voice Minute Extra.

Caribbean Voice Minutes Extra:

1. Minutes can be used at any time for Caribbean calls to the following Digicel territories:

  • Anguilla
  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Aruba
  • Barbados
  • Bermuda
  • Bonaire
  • BVI
  • Cayman
  • Curacao
  • Dominica
  • French Guiana
  • Grenada
  • Guadeloupe
  • Martinique
  • St. Kitts
  • St. Lucia
  • St. Vincent and Grenadines
  • Suriname
  • Turks and Caicos   

2. Unused minutes will not roll over after the thirty (30) day period.

3. Minutes cannot be transferred to another account or other subscribers.

4. The charging order for usage of minutes will be the bundled minutes in the Customer’s postpaid plan, then the bundled minutes in the Extra  and then any other minutes under promotions existing at the time.

5. Customers cannot subscribe to more than one Caribbean Voice Minute Extra concurrently, which is once already subscribed to a Caribbean Voice Minute Extra. 

Unlimited BlackBerry BIS Service

Unlimited data service for 30 day relates to BlackBerry Internet Services (BIS) which includes email and internet usage through a BlackBerry device

14.  Can I sign up for the same Digicel Extras multiple times? 

- No, customers can’t sign up for the same Digicel Extras multiple times (e.g. 300 International minutes 3 times within 30 day period), however they can sign up for multiple Digicel Extras’s within the stipulated interval ( eg. 300 International minutes, 60 local voice minutes and Unlimited Digi weekends.)

15.  What happens at the end of my 30 day subscription to my Digicel Extras service? 

- At the end of 30 day period customers will automatically be renewed into service. Subscribers will need to opt out to discontinue service

- Prior to renewal customers will receive a text messaging advising to opt out if they do not wish to continue for an additional 30 days. They will receive this message 24 hours and 48 hours prior to renewal

16.  Can I unsubscribe from a Digicel Extras plan before the 30 day period?

No, Customers can only unsubscribe when they receive the 24 hr or 48 hr notification. They cannot unsubscribe before that.

17.  While roaming will I be able to use my services? 

No, Digicel Extras services doesn’t apply to roaming customers.

18.  Does International Free Talk promotion apply to International voice minutes? 

No, the International Free Talk promotion does not apply to the International voice minutes

19.  As a prepaid customer can I subscribe to any of the services offered? 

- No, Digicel Extras are available to postpaid customers only.

Consumer Postpaid Extras Terms and Conditions

Digicel (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited (“Digicel” or “the Company”) is offering various bundles (“the Extra” or “the Extras”) as set out herein to its Consumer Postpaid Customers (“the Customer”, “you” or “the Subscriber” and “your” shall be construed accordingly) upon the terms and conditions set out below:

Customers may apply for any Extra  by using a USSD code, which means the customer will dial *XXX# (where “XXX” represents the USSD code assigned to each Extra) and then press the dial button on their handset. The USSD codes for each Extras are set out in the info below.

  • Digicel will then send an SMS to confirm acceptance of an application for the Extra.
  • All Extras shall be valid for THIRTY (30) DAYS from the time of the confirmatory SMS/text message sent to the Customer from Digicel. As the Extra activation cycle may not run parallel with the Subscriber’s regular billing cycle, Subscribers may enjoy the use of the Extra beyond the billing period shown on their postpaid bill. Subscribers will however be billed for the total cost of the Extra in the billing cycle that the Extra is activated. The related charges for the Extras will therefore not be prorated on the Subscriber’s regular billing cycle. Only the relevant charge for the Extra and not the minute usage under the Extra will be shown on the Subscriber’s invoice.
  • Unused minutes from the Extras will NOT roll over after the THIRTY (30) DAY period but will expire after the thirty days.
  • Customers will not be able to renew any Extra before the expiration of the THIRTY (30) DAY period even where the minutes under the Extra has been fully used.
  • All Extras will renew automatically upon the expiration of the THIRTY (30) DAY period unless the Customer unsubscribes from the Extra prior to its expiration. Subscribers will receive two (2) SMS/text message (one twenty-four (24) hours and the other forty-eight (48) hours prior to the expiration time of the Extra) reminding the Subscriber that the Extra will expire in that time. The Extra will be renewed the Customer unsubscribes by dialling the specified USSD code stated in the SMS/text message to opt out of the Extra .
  • Customers can only unsubscribe from an Extra in the last forty-eight (48) hours of the thirty (30) day period, at which time  the Customer will receive the aforementioned SMS/text message reminding him/her of the option to unsubscribe prior to the expiration of the period for the Extra. Whenever a Customer unsubscribes from an Extra it will only cease at the end of the relevant THIRTY (30) DAY period.
  • All consumer postpaid plans are eligible to subscribe to Extras. Corporate postpaid subscribers are NOT eligible to subscribe to Extras.
  • Extras can only be used for personal and not commercial use. Digicel reserves the right to immediately terminate an Extra if in Digicel’s sole discretion  the Extra is being used by the Subscriber for financial gain or profit .
  • Extras cannot be used while the Subscriber is  roaming outside of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Extras will not be automatically renewed if the application of the relevant charges will result in the Subscriber exceeding his/her credit limit. In such circumstances the Subscriber will receive a SMS/text message advising that the Extra was not renewed for this reason.
  • Subscribers will receive a confirmatory SMS/text message after the Subscriber has been successfully unsubscribed from the Extra.
  • Customers may apply for multiple Extras at the same time but cannot apply for the same Extra concurrently, that is before the expiration of the relevant thirty (30) day period.
  • Customers may check the expiry date for their Extra by dialling the USSD code *XXX*779# where “XXX” represents the USSD code assigned to each Extra in the table below. You may also check the number of minutes remaining on the Extra by dialling the USSD code *XXX*10#. In each, case the Subscriber will receive a reply by SMS/text message informing him/her of the expiry date and number of remaining minutes.
  • Subject to the above the normal postpaid terms and conditions apply.

The specific terms and conditions and the VAT Inclusive rates for each Extra are set out below.

C) Minutes cannot be transferred to another account or other subscribers.

D) The charging order for usage of minutes will be the bundled minutes in the Customer’s postpaid plan, then the bundled minutes in the Extra  and then any other minutes under promotions existing at the time.

E) Subscribers cannot subscribe to more than one Caribbean Voice Minute Extra concurrently, that is once already subscribed to a Caribbean Voice Minute Extra.

The Customer agrees that Digicel reserves the right to terminate any Extra  forthwith if in Digicel’s sole opinion it is being abused, such abuse to include but not be limited to:-

  • Open circuits without voice conversations ;
  • Circuits being used for data transmission and/or non-voice communication);
  • General abuse intended to undermine the mobile telecommunications network provided by Digicel, and
  • Any other ground for suspension or termination under Clause 20 of Digicel’s Postpaid Terms and Conditions.
