DIGICEL RISING STARS CELEBRATES A DECADE OF LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT
FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 2015 – PORT-OF-SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO: This year Digicel Rising Stars (DRS) will celebrate a decade of extraordinary talent in Trinidad and Tobago. The reality TV talent show has been a springboard for many of its participants, who have since then pursued their singing or dancing careers at national and international levels.
Since inception, the ever so popular DRS has indeed provided an excellent opportunity to all those talented nationals waiting for a lucky break or simply a chance to shine in the entertainment world.
Kay Alleyne, Erica Samuels, Donald Job, Neval Chatelal, Camille Comas, Ancil Valley and Neisha Guy are the singing birds, who have been elected and crowned Digicel Rising Stars champions over the years, with only two dance groups, Eclectik and D’Gift, taking home the coveted title in 2006 and 2012, respectively.
The popular show has also seen many memorable judges and coaches, who have taken these young talents under their wings and helped them master their craft. Among them, the multi-talented Glenda Collens, producer Johnny Gonsalves, performer Michael Salickram and soca artiste Nadia Batson.
The 2015 auditions, which are open to all Trinbagonians over the age of 18, will kick off in Tobago on September 11 at the Rovanel’s Resort and will continue in Trinidad as follows: September 12 at the Central Regional Indoor Sport Arena, Saith Park, Chaguanas; September 13 at Eddie Hart Grounds, Tacarigua; September 19 at Legends Car Park, Point Fortin and on September 20 at the Banquet and Conference Centre, Movietowne, Port of Spain.
