DRS EXPLOSIVE FINALE APPROACHES
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2015 – PORT-OF-SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO: From the word ‘go’ the 2015 season of the Digicel Rising Stars has promised us a talent filled energetic competition and it has not disappointed. Auditions kicked off in September in the sister isle of Tobago and then journeyed to Trinidad for four rounds. 16 talented young men and women made it to the LIVE round of the 2015 reality TV series.
The judging panel throughout the season delivered constructive critique to all contestants all with the aim of improving the overall performances. Returning judge Nadia Batson; songwriter, producer and entertainer Nigel Rojas and Digicel Rising Star 2013 Neval Chatelal provided just the right balance to make the show memorable. Combined with added training by the Digicel endorsees: Ravi B.,Destra and Kes along with their guest performances, the hopeful Digicel Rising Stars contestants were pushed each and every week to raise the standard of their performances.
On last week’s show the third place winner Whitney Cephas was announced and presented with her $100,000 cheque by Digicel’s Senior Sponsorship Officer, Christopher Edmond. Cephas also took home $4K Massy Vouches and $4K in Optometrists Today vouchers as well as an Azumi handset.
It’s now down to the final two as the show draws to a close this coming weekend. Angela Dedier was actually voted off early in the series and was brought back as the judges’ wild card. On last week’s show, Dedier along with her performance of a previous song in the season performed for the audience Shadows’ Dingolay. She was also challenged by the judges’ with a Patti Labelle selection, ‘On My Way.’ The Archer sisters, winners of TTRN’s Uncovered series performed Blaax, ‘On My Way’ for their calypso rendition and were challenged by the judges’ with Whitney Houston’s ‘Dance with Somebody.’ DRS judge Nigel Rojas noted at the end of the show, “At this moment I would gladly pay $300US to hear either contestant sing, either the Archer sisters or Angela. You are that good!”
The finalists are vying for a first prize of $250K in cash, $10K in Massy vouchers, $10K in Optometrists Today vouchers and an Azumi handset. The second place winner will walk away with $150K in cash and $6K in Massy vouchers and $6K in Optometrists Today vouchers as well as an Azumi handset.
Audience members can win hampers from Digicel, handsets from Azumi, vouchers from Massy Stores and products from Optometrists Today! Tickets for the final of the Digicel Rising Stars 2015 can be obtained from the Digicel Experience Store at ANSA building, Maraval Road from 8-5pm, Monday-Friday.
Celebrating their 10 year anniversary, this season of the Digicel Rising Stars (DRS) show has been one to remember from inception to its upcoming completion on Sunday, November 29 at 8:00p.m on TV6.
