‘WILDCARD’ WINS DIGICEL RISING STARS
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2015 – PORT-OF-SPAIN: It was a nail- biting; pore raising finale of the Digicel Rising Star 2015 on Sunday November 29 at the Zen nightclub. The final contestants Angela Didier and the Archer sisters enthralled their fans singing popular Christmas selections, “Ribbons”, “Hallelujah”, “Christmas Magic”, “This Christmas” backed by the Joey Ng Wai led band, Imij and Company. They also received a standing ovation for their last call performance of ‘The Prayer’.
In the end it was the judges’ wild card Angela Didier who got the final nod of approval from the viewing public recording the larger quantity of votes to be crowned Digicel Rising Star 2015. The Archer sisters who also enjoyed a fantastic season on the show walked away in second place.
Digicel’s Head of Marketing Lori-Ann Glasgow; Massy Stores’ Marketing Manager, Anthony Choo Quan and Optometrists Today’s Purchasing Manager Natalie Bootan were on hand to present the prizes. Didier took home the grand prize of 250,000 in cash, an Azumi Handset, $10K in Massy vouchers and $10K in vouchers from Optometrists Today. The Archer sisters received $150K in cash, an Azumi Handset, $6K in Massy vouchers and $6K in products from Optometrists Today. All finalists on the 2015 series received tokens from Massy vouchers and Optometrists Today
It was definitely an evening of talent as Digicel Rising Star 2014 Neisha Guy thrilled the audience with her rendition of ‘Christmas Heart.’ Giving her debut performance on the Digicel Rising Stars stage was Digicel’s Customer Care Agent, Renee Joseph-Fortune, who thrilled the crowd with her ‘hyped-up’ version of “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” Joseph-Fortune emerged the winner of the in-house Digicel Staff Star 2015 competition the telecommunications company organized for its staffers.
