What is Prepaid Roaming?
Prepaid Roaming is a premium service offered by Digicel allowing you to make and receive calls, send and receive SMS while outside their home network.

How do I use the prepaid roaming service?
All Digicel prepaid accounts are pre-provisioned for roaming. There is no need to contact customer care for activation.

What should I do before I do before roam?
Before roaming, ensure that you have an active prepaid Digicel account.
Ensure that your handset charger is compatible with the requirements of visiting country.
Top-up your account with sufficient credit before leaving it.

What do I do once I arrive in the visiting country?
Turn on your handset. Most handsets should automatically update to the strongest available network. If this does not happen, you can manually select the preferred network by choosing the manual search mode from the 'Network Settings' option in the handset.

How do I receive a call while roaming?
Receiving a call on a visited network will be the same as receiving a call on the home network.
Someone calling from Antigua and Barbuda dials your seven digit number as usual and the call gets routed to your handset. There are no extra charges incurred by the calling party.

How do I receive a text message while roaming?
When a message is sent to you while roaming, it can be located in the inbox of the messages section of the handset. To receive a message is FREE!

How do I make a call while roaming?
This procedure is slightly different from the norm. All numbers should be dialled using the international dialling format. For instance to call Antigua and Barbuda +1268 must be placed before the seven digit number.

How do I send a text while roaming?
1. Type the message from the handset's new message option. 
2. Select send and enter the recipient's number using the format as stated above.

How do top-up my account while roaming?
In an effort to afford you every facility to make the prepaid roaming as seamless as possible, Digicel provides numerous options for recharging your account. 
1. You may purchase your vouchers while in Antigua and Barbuda and top-up while abroad. Simply dial   *121* Voucher number# send.
2. You may top-up online at https://online-top-up.digicelgroup.com/en-AG/

Will there be a special way to check my balance while roaming?
No. Simply dial *120# and send as usual and you will be given a balance update on the screen of your phone.

What will happen if my balance is too low to make/receive a call?
If your balance is below the required amount for making a call and you try to call someone, you will hear a "low balance" tone and the call will not go through, once you top-up again, you will regain the services of your phone

 

Post-paid Roaming

How does roaming work? 
Digicel has roaming agreements with other GSM operations worldwide that allow our customers to use these partner networks when traveling abroad. 

What should I do before I do before roam?
Before you are ready to travel, you will need to increase your minimum deposit. To do this, simply visit your nearest payment point and increase your deposit. Once you have done this, you are then ready to roam*. Before you leave the country, remember to follow these 2 easy steps:
1. Find the Network Selection setting in your Digicel mobile phone menu, and select "AUTOMATIC' before you go to the airport.
2. When you have reached your destination, turn on your phone and allow it to update and locate Digicel's partner network in that country.

What should I do if my handset does not pick up a network automatically when I have reached my destination?
There are some handsets that you will need to select the network manually. To do this, go to Menu, Network Selection, Change Band, Change to 1900, press ok.

What is Digicel “Roam Like You’re Home” plan?
Digicel “Roam Like You Home” service allows Digicel Prepaid and Post-paid customers travelling to the United States to benefit from calling and SMS rates as if they were in XXXX. Data rates are also significantly lower on this plan.

Who is the “Roam like you’re Home” plan for?
The Roam like you’re Home plan is for both Prepaid and Post-paid GSM customers

 

How does “Roam Like You're Home” work?
The “Roam Like Home” plan is a roaming service that allows Prepaid and Post-paid customers to opt in to a specialized rate plan for a subscription fee while roaming in the USA and the Caribbean for a limited duration (30 days for Post-paid, 7 days for prepaid) and is available only on the Digicel network in the Caribbean (excluding Guyana) and all networks in the USA and Canada. The subscription fee allows customers to access low usage rates for voice, texts and data.
Once you have opted in to this plan you will be charged the same rate for voice and SMS services as you would were you in XXX and access significantly lower data charges of $0.20 per MB. These reduced rates will be applicable for the full duration of the plan. Once the plan has expired, rates will revert to standard roaming rates.
The Roam Like You Home rates are same as home rates charged at per second billing.

What is the cost to register for the service?

The cost to register the service varies for Prepaid and Post-paid costumers it is as follows:
•Prepaid – XXXXX for the subscription period (7 Days)
•Post-paid – XXXXX for the subscription period (30 Days)

Do I have to activate the Roam like You’re Home plan before they roam?
Post-paid customer must activate before leaving, by contact Customer Care or visiting a retail store. However prepaid subscribers can activate by dialling *XXX# and follow the instructions.

How do I activate the “Roam Like You’re Home” plan?
Prepaid Customers:
•To initiate activation of “Roam Like You Home”, Prepaid customers are required to dial *XXX#.
•The plan will then need to be confirmed by dialling *XXX*X#.  
•Once confirmed, activation of the plan is then completed and indicated by a notification message.
•Activated customers will be able to benefit from the reduced prices while roaming
•This plan is for customers with roaming capable handsets.  

Post-paid Customers:
• Post-paid customers (are or  NOT) required to pay the roaming deposit before activating the Roam Like You Home plan.
•To initiate activation of “Roam Like You Home”, Post-paid customers are required to stop in store to activate Roam Like You Home Plan.
•Activated customers will be able to benefit from the reduced prices while roaming in the US.
•This plan is for customers with roaming capable handsets.

How do I renew my Roam Like You’re Home plan?
There is no option to renew the Roam Like You Home Plan. The plans can be reactivated after expiry i.e. 7 days (Prepaid) or 30 Days (Post-paid) after purchase.

Will I receive a notification when their Roam like You’re Home plan expires?
Yes. You will also receive one (1) notification when the plan has expired. Once plan has expired regular roaming rates will be applied.

How do I cancel my Roam Like You’re Home plan?
The plan cannot be cancelled after activation. During the activation process you can dial *XXX*X# to cancel the activation.
Once activated the plan will only expire at the end of the subscription period i.e. 7 days (Prepaid) or 30 Days (Post-paid) after purchase

How customers do contact Customer Care while roaming?
Customers are required to dial 1 XXX XXX XXXX to contact Customer Care while roaming.
Contacting Voicemail while roaming will incur a cost that will be charged the same rate as if calling a Digicel number, if Roam Like Home is activated that charge will be $XXX per min Post-paid and $XXX per min Prepaid.

How do I get to my Voicemail while Roaming?
You are required to dial 1  XXX XXX XXXX to get to your voicemail.
Checking your voicemail while roaming will attract a cost. The call will be charged the same rate as if calling a Digicel number, if Roam like Your Home is activated, the you will be charged at the Roam Like You’re Home rates. 

Am I able to benefit from local promotions? E.g. Free after 3, Free Weekends etc.? (To amend for respective markets)
No. You will not be able to benefit from any local products or promotions.

If I am a Prepaid customer with bonus credit on my account can this be used while roaming?
No. Bonus credit is a local promotion and will not be able to be used while roaming.
