Tonga has suffered an outage in the submarine cable network that connects the Kingdom to the outside world putting the country into digital isolation. It’s been 8-days with the outage and Digicel Tonga continues to face data connectivity issues because of the major fibre cut in the submarine cable resulting in the unstable data services.
We wish to advise all our customers that they can make International and Locals calls as well as send text messages both locally and international, however using data services will only allow you to use basic services such as browsing to stay connected with family and friends. Digicel Tonga has established 3G data connectivity nationwide that will allow you to use the basic data services.
In view of the current situation, Digicel Tonga is reducing it’s Out of bundle charge from $0.25 to $0.05.
If you wish to get yourself or family members a Digicel SIM, please visit your nearest Digicel store and our team will be happy to assist you and also provide you with further updates.
