Friday, 22nd June 2018 – Nauru - Digicel today announced the launch of its world-class 4G+ network in Nauru with nationwide LTE coverage.
Digicel Nauru has made a significant investment of millions of dollars on its network since 1st September 2009 in order for Nauru to have the latest telecommunications technology.
Digicel Nauru Chief Executive Officer, Francis Thomsen said “The Chairman and owner of Digicel, Mr Denis O’Brien, during his visit to Nauru last March, reaffirmed Digicel’s commitment to the Republic of Nauru during his meeting with His Excellency the President, Honourable Baron Waqa and members of Cabinet by stating that Digicel will undergo a major network upgrade in June which will see nationwide LTE coverage and the launch of 4G+. This makes Nauru the country with the highest population per capita across the region to have access to the latest form of telecommunications technology and also making Nauru technology ready to host the upcoming Pacific Island Leaders Forum Meeting in September this year.”
“This significant development marks the latest step for Digicel as we complete the 4G+ roll out across Nauru, an investment that will provide the fastest network speed in the country. Our goal is to provide customers with access to the best valued services at the most competitive prices, enabling our customers to stay connected with friends and family both at home and abroad.”
“Digicel Nauru is dedicated to not only be the key driver in the evolution of Nauruan telecommunications landscape, since its inception here in September 2009 but to also be an active partner within the local community by way of sponsorship of various events that benefits all Nauruans,” added Thomsen.
