Dancehall giants and former archrivals, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, are set to deliver a high-energy and lyrically exciting performance when they grace stage of the Digicel Unplugged online concert series this Sunday, April 19 to connect with fans and celebrate 19 years of Digicel.

The ‘golden birthday’ celebration already has longtime dancehall fans hyped about the big event that will be streamed live on Digicel’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages - @digiceljamaica – beginning at 5pm.

The epic staging will no doubt be an unforgettable showcase of vintage and modern dancehall favorites from the legends who have figure prominently in the art form. It will also be how Digicel says thanks to its over two million customers for 19 years of service to them.

And even as Digicel and the artistes playfully acknowledge that, “Outside naah keep,” Chief Marketing Officer for Digicel Jamaica, Nasha-Monique Douglas, promises that the indoor event will be an unforgettable experience.

In welcoming music lovers from Jamaica and the rest of the world to the 90-minute livestream, Douglas commented, “This is definitely the most anticipated Digicel Unplugged event so far, and we are absolutely thrilled to be able to bring good dancehall vibes to all corners of the earth this weekend.”

Douglas added, “We share a long and successful history with these two well-accomplished living legends of Jamaican dancehall, so, to have them join us to celebrate our ‘golden birthday’ makes it even more special to us and our customers.”

For many, the upcoming concert will be a nostalgic one as the two Grammy Award-winning dancehall juggernauts are expected to reel off some of their most memorable tunes from their extensive musical catalogues. They continue to remain at the top of the dancehall scene for over three decades, pulling sold-out audiences here and abroad.

Online concert-goers will be reminded why Beenie Man is recognized as one of dancehall’s greatest when he takes them down memory lane with hits like ‘King of the Dancehall’, ‘Girls Dem Sugar’ and the catchy number ‘Sim Simma’.

Known internationally for his captivating performances, Bounty Killer will also showcase his impressive repertoire of hits that include the ‘Anytime’, ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Cellular Phone’ which will truly bring back fond memories for longtime Digicel customers.

The concert is the third in a series of highly-viewed online entertainment events designed by Digicel to keep everyone close while socially distant during this time. The first was on March 29, which featured Jesse Royal, Dre Island and Jamila Falak playing in front of an online audience of thousands of viewers, while the Easter Sunday edition showcased the uplifting voices of Kevin Downswell and Jody Kay James.

In the meantime, Digicel continues to remind everyone to practice social distancing and stay tuned to text message updates on the COVID-19 situation through its public education partnership with the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
