Digicel & Red Stripe invite the public to HWT takeover with free concert

-Brands partner to host Redemption Live in honour of Bob Marley

Kingston, Jamaica – Monday, January 23, 2017: Digicel Jamaica and Red Stripe are inviting everyone to join them in a big takeover of Half-Way Tree on Sunday, February 5, 2017 with the 7th staging of Redemption Live – a massive free concert in honour of reggae icon Bob Marley’s 72nd birthday. The event is part of week-long celebrations being hosted by the Bob Marley Group of Companies.

The line-up boasts several top local and international acts, including Ky-Mani Marley, Beenie Man Richie Spice, Capleton, Ikaya, Kabaka Pyramid, Garnet Silk Jr., Jah9 and Grammy-nominated Dancehall act, Devin di Dakta.

“Redemption Live is a perfect example of how we will unite the Jamaican people through music. The theme, vibe and melody cater to people from all segments of society, and so we look forward to seeing as many of them out in the big square living up to the vision of unity that Bob Marley always envisioned,” stated Kamal Powell, senior sponsorship and development manager at Digicel. “So it’s a huge part of what we do every year and our customers love it.  Over the years, it has grown from strength to strength and this year, we look forward to another memorable event.”

Powell added, “Last year, we saw almost ten thousand patrons coming out to the concert and the feedback was absolutely tremendous. We also had thousands more tuning in to the live stream from all around the world so we anticipate that this year will be another amazing show, especially with partners like Red Stripe on board.”

Nasha Douglas, Senior Brand Manager at Red Stripe, also shared, “As a firm supporter of Jamaican music, Red Stripe sees this partnership with Digicel and the Bob Marley Group of Companies as a natural fit. This celebration of Marley is a staple on the entertainment calendar each year and we believe that it serves as an important reminder of the reggae king’s amazing legacy and the relevance of his music today.”

Patrons can claim their free tickets at select Digicel stores in Kingston, St. Catherine, Manchester, Clarendon and St. Ann. VIP tickets will also be on sale for $4,000 each, proceeds from which will go to the Eira Schader Home for the Aged in Trench Town.

Redemption Live is presented through a partnership involving Digicel and Red Stripe with sponsors REVOLT TV, Pepsi, Rainforest Seafoods, Main Event and the Bob Marley Group of Companies.
