Iba MaHr shares advice with Digicel Kickstart players

Jamaican representatives in the annual Digicel Kickstart Academy led by Manchester City got an added boost today with a surprise visit from Reggae artist, Iba MaHr. The ‘Diamond Socks’ crooner visited the week-long Academy to share some advice with the boys and have a quick game.

“If it wasn’t music then it would definitely be football”, said Iba MaHr. “I played DaCosta Cup for Dintill Technical High and even went on to play in the local Division One league”, he continued.

Never short on nuggets of wisdom, MaHr had some top advice for the young ballers, “Watch how you eat; your body is your temple and how you treat it will determine how successful you become in the sport. Also important is discipline, always remember that the whistle is the game”.

The Digicel Kickstart programme provides an avenue for young footballers to improve and hone their footballing skills and talents, while building character - both on and off the pitch. The Academy is the culmination of a series of clinics held across the 14 Digicel markets. At the end of the Academy the most outstanding boys will be rewarded with a trip to England to train at the City Football Academy, Manchester City’s elite training and youth development facility.
