Telecommunications company supports festival for the 14th year
Local telecoms forerunner, Digicel, has signed on for the 14th year as a platinum sponsor of Reggae Sumfest.
“We have said it time and time again, that Reggae Sumfest is a staple among music lovers here and abroad and Digicel is happy to be associated with this product that continues to grow from strength to strength,” said Senior Sponsorship and Development Manager at Digicel, Kamal Powell.
This announcement came just days after the company launched its summer campaign, Mega Money Summer, with popular dancehall artiste, Ding Dong as its brand Ambassador. “We are looking forward to taking the excitement of summer to Sumfest and give our patrons a chance to win cash at the festival over the 3-day period,” added Powell.
In addition, Digicel said it is also looking to leverage its extensive social media platform of over 800,000 fans across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to give them opportunities to win some really exciting prizes like VIP experiences, data plans and credit to name a few.
Meanwhile, Director of Summerfest productions, Johnny Gourzong said, “Digicel has been a tower of strength for the Reggae Sumfest brand over the last 14 years. The sponsorship support has gone a far way in helping to cement Reggae Sumfest as the Greatest Reggae Show on Earth. We consider Digicel to be more than a sponsor; they are part of the Sumfest family.”
Gourzong further noted, “Digicel has been an innovator in the marketplace. The patron experience has no doubt been enhanced by Digicel's presence, from cutting edge giveaways and promotions, to the small stage that has helped to launch the careers of many of our Reggae and Dancehall acts. We have no doubt that this year Sumfest fans will be excited when Digicel unveils their plans.”
Echoing Gourzong’s sentiments, Powell added, “This year, the Digicel stage will see even bigger and better local talent, including Ding Dong. We can’t wait to give our customers a truly blockbuster experience at this year’s event.”
The three-day festival will see its 22nd staging this year being held with the theme, ‘Summer Blockbuster’, inspired by its star-studded line-up of international acts including Jennifer Hudson, Rick Ross, Common and Yazz. This will be staged in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay from June 16-18, 2015.
