Digicel makes back to school easier

With the costly back-to-school season in high gear, some parents can breathe a sigh of relief courtesy of Digicel.

This year, the telecommunications forerunner will be involved in over 20 back-to-school treats hosted by schools, children’s homes, Government agencies and charities across the island. These treats will be will receive items such as backpacks, books, pencils, pens, water bottles, draw string bags as well as cash sponsorship.

One such treat is the Youth Expression Plus Productions (YEPP) Back to School fair which will be held in the UDC parking lot at the Portmore Mall on Saturday, August 29.  Founder of YEPP, Kenniesha Burrell, said, “This is second year that Digicel has been on board and I am truly grateful for their support. Last year I recall how the children and parents alike where very excited about the bags and water bottles in particular. This is because these items serve as a big help to the parents who may have not had the money to buy a new bag for their child.”

Senior Sponsorship and Development Manager at Digicel, Kamal Powell said, “We understand how difficult the back to school season can be for our customers, therefore we wanted to assist them with ticking even one item off that school list.”

Technology in Education

Currently modems are being sold with up to 20% discounts while smartphones are available for as low as $2950.

“While students may has access to internet and internet-enabled devices through their school, Digicel offers range of affordable handsets, tablets and modems that will help to continue this learning experience at home,” ended Powell.
