Digicel Appleton Carnival 2015 ‘Pon di Road’ Roadshow ends series in Montego Bay
The Digicel Appleton Carnival 2015 ‘Pon di Road’ Roadshow ended last Thursday at Pier One in Montego Bay, St. James.
The 6-week inaugural series closed out with a J’ouvert style soca fete complete with music by ZJ Sparks and DJ Kurt Riley, an appearance by Ms. Kitty and of course, lots of paint!
The event got underway at 6PM but was kicked into high gear at about 8PM when Digicel brand ambassador, Ms. Kitty took to the stage with a much welcomed display of wining.
The night’s festivities continued with even more dancing, music and giveaways of call-credit, smartphones and alcohol courtesy of Digicel and Appleton.
At 11PM the paint was unleashed and patrons could be seen splashing each other and having a good time. Soon all patrons were covered in green and yellow paint and ‘wukking up a storm’ to soca hits such as ‘Climb up’, ‘Worst Behaviour’, ‘Truck on Di Road and ‘Lucy’.
Pleased with the outcome of the series, Danielia McLean, sponsorship executive at Digicel said, “When we started the Carnival Pon Di Road series, our aim was to spread the vibe and culture of carnival right across the island; based on the response we’ve gotten from patrons I can definitely say, mission accomplished! The series really made a difference this carnival season where all the fetes weren’t just concentrated in the corporate area and we look forward to building on this format for next year.”
