Over 3,000 customers ported to network since June 22
Telecommunications forerunner, Digicel, today announced that more than 3,000 customers have ported to its network since the launch of Local Number Portability on June 22.
According to Sean Latty, Chief Operations Officer at Digicel, the response to the company’s offers has been overwhelming, with customers from the other network flocking to the dealer stores to start porting in.
“Customers want value for their money,” said Latty. “Many of them have even shared how relieved they were to finally be able to join the Digicel network without having to change their number. The kind of feedback we’ve been getting from customers who have ported or started the porting process is also very positive, with several saying that they’re enjoying faster data, more affordable plans and more options.”
Latty added that, in addition to having access to value-packed data and calling plans, customers also got great value when they switched to the Digicel network.
“We have the best deal in the market for postpaid customers who sign up for one of our GoSmart plans when they port to Digicel. In addition to being able to choose between a free Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini or a Samsung Galaxy Grand II, they also get a free two-month subscription and a ten percent rebate. Prepaid customers also get a free SIM card plus $500 credit, and that’s just some of the great deals and offers that they can take advantage of.”
Raymond Vernal, a taxi operator from St. Catherine who ported to Digicel’s network said, “When I was with the other network, a lot of customers complained that they didn’t want to call me. Now that I have a Digicel number, it’s either free or cheaper for them to call me, so it’s much better for my business.”
Another customer, Petrano Belafonte, General Manager for Insight Optical, shared that since switching to Digicel, he was unable get work done while he was mobile.
“Digicel’s faster data network allows me to check work emails quicker,” Belafonte said. “I work on the road a lot so I have to be able to access my emails wherever I go. Before I switched to Digicel, many times I could not access my emails or download attachments so I had to wait until I got to a computer to do my work. Now, I don’t have that problem at all, and I’m glad I made this smart move.”
