Patrons win cash and prizes plus performances by upcoming local acts
Now a staple in the Sumfest line-up, the Digicel Stage brought the band breaks to life, giving patrons bonus entertainment from top local acts along with giveaways of cash, smartphones and credit.
Hosted by the vivacious Digicel brand ambassador, Ms. Kitty, patrons of International Night I were in for a treat.
Starting things off was Jameik King, a young and upcoming Reggae artiste. The audience watched in appreciation as he performed singles such as ‘Hold me Close’ and ‘Nuff Money’. However, it was his song ‘Paradise’, dedicated to Ms. Kitty, which earned him the biggest reaction from the audience.
Up next was Ashani, another young artiste on the rise. His popular singles ‘On and On’ and ‘Unbreakable’ had the crowd singing along. Fans of popular Dancehall artiste, Sizzla, were also in for a treat as they were given a taste of his musical legacy when his son Meleku took to the stage.
Pleased with their performances, the young performers expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform for the audience of the internationally acclaimed music festival, courtesy of Digicel.
Likewise, Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall winner, Devin Di Dakta, was also overjoyed about performing on the Digicel Stage.
“It’s such a great feeling to be here, Sumfest is the biggest show and I get to showcase my talent here on the Digicel Stage,” said Devin.
Ending the stage activities was Dancehall artiste and the face of Digicel’s Mega Money Summer campaign, Ding Dong. After a crowd-pleasing performance on Dancehall Night, patrons were treated to yet another high energy dancing session complete with his dance crew, the Raver Clavers.
“In true Digicel fashion, we had to give our customers bigger and better value at Sumfest this year,” said Kamal Powell, senior sponsorship and development manager at Digicel. “The Digicel Stage has become a staple at Reggae Sumfest and we’re very happy to be able to give so many young, upcoming artistes the opportunity to perform for the Sumfest crowd. It’s always something to look forward to.”
