St. William Grant Park buzzed with confetti and celebrations from hundreds of onlookers on Wednesday when 18-year-old Shaquille Sewell from Kingston was handed the key to a brand new 2013 Range Rover Evoque following the grand draw in the Digicel Brighten Someone’s Christmas promotion.Sewell who professed that he has been a Digicel prepaid customer for 6 years competed against 4 other Digicel customers to determine his fate in the promotion. Sewell and his 4 opponents, who were all randomly selected using Digicel’s Raffle Manager System, were asked to dive into a ball pit to find a white ball among hundreds of coloured balls. Each ball contained a numbered key that corresponded with a numbered chest displayed on stage and inside each chest was a placard with one of five prizes written on it. After opening chest number 5, the 18-year-old did a victory spin when he saw that his placard read, “Congratulations you are the winner of a 2013 Range Rover Evoque!”
Speaking about his celebratory plans for his new ride, the 18-year-old said, “I will be taking my mom and dad to the beach.”
Commenting on the promotion Digicel’s Head of Recharge Annalise Harewood said, “We are at the end of a truly fulfilling promotion and we would like to congratulate Shaquille on his win. Congrats as well to the other four finalists who were winners in their own way and so they also walked away with a prize.”
The other participants were Shanique Brown from Hanover who won one-year supply of credit, Christopher Binns from St. Ann who won a DL600 and $5,000 credit, Norman Blincholm from Kingston who won a $20,000 Hi-Lo supermarket voucher and Michael Leslie who won a one-year data plan.
