Kingston, Jamaica – Friday, May 10, 2013: Jamaica’s number one talent show, Digicel Rising Stars, is back for its 10th season and officially starts its search for Extraordinary talent as the auditions begin this weekend in the eastern parish of Portland.

The premiere Jamaican talent show will host its first audition tomorrow Saturday May 11 at Folly Oval in Portland, a return to the origins of Digicel Rising Stars, as the first ever audition for the competition in 2004 was held at that exact location. Show producer Sharon Schroeter says she expects a good turnout from the East: “This is the first time we are going to Portland since our 1st year and it comes after many requests from the talent on that side of the island. I am sure Digicel Rising Stars’ hopefuls will be excited to see new judges Tanya Stephens, Craigy T and the return of Anthony ‘Killer’ Miller. It will be an exciting day at Folly Oval”.
Digicel Rising Stars has a strong heritage in Portland and will be calling on that history for the auditions tomorrow. The parish has to its credit the first Digicel Rising Star, Cavan, who has done well for himself as a writer for several top R&B artistes in the United States. The producers and Judges then head to and its second audition for Season 10 at the Tolan’s Esso Station (formerly Leiba’s Esso) in May Pen on Sunday May 12.
May Pen was the home of Dalton Harris, who won the competition in 2010. The past student of the Edwin Allen High School captivated the Digicel Rising Stars audience with his infectious renditions and walked away with the coveted title.  Dalton is currently signed to Penthouse under the management of renowned producer Donavan Germain.
Following on the auditions in Portland and May Pen, the Digicel Rising Stars Auditions will journey for the first time to the bustling town of Savanna-la-Mar on Saturday May 18 for its third audition at the Mannings High School. Then it will be off to Island Village in Ocho Rios on Sunday May 19, Portmore Heart Academy on Saturday May 25 and finally, in Kingston at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on Sunday June 2.
Tahnida Nunes, Senior Sponsorship Manager at Digicel believes that it is important that for its 10th anniversary, Digicel Rising Stars cover as much ground as possible during auditions: “Digicel Rising Stars is the flagship brand for Digicel and Portland is where the journey all began. In continuing the 10 year journey, this year we will cover East, West, North and South to unearth the extraordinary talent in Jamaica.  Digicel is proud of the Rising Stars legacy and the entertainment icons who have emerged over the years and we continue to encourage Jamaicans to celebrate our unique local talent.  So all you Extraordinary people, come out to an audition near you!”
All auditions for this the 10th season of Digicel Rising Stars begin at 7:00 am  and ends at 3:00 pm at the respective venues.
