On the heels of a spectacular performance at the 2012 London Olympics in August, Digicel has partnered with Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce to say thank you to her entire community for their support of her by treating them to a grand Family Fun Day this weekend in the Waterhouse community, where her roots lie.
The event will kick off at 12 noon and will see members of the community being treated to loads of activities for the day, including giveaways of phones, call credit and other items. Entertainment will include performances from local community talents as well as top acts like popular Jamaican gospel singers Jermaine Edwards, Omari and Garfield Reid among others. And to ensure this is a true family feel good event, Digicel will also be setting up a Kiddies Village as well providing as gifts for the children to take home at the end of the day.
According to Benjamin Simms, Sponsorship Executive at Digicel, “Digicel is very proud to be aligned with our Brand Ambassadors like Shelly-Ann and we’re always looking for ways to strengthen our relationship with all of them, so we’re very happy to be helping Shelly-Ann to say thanks to her community for their support of her”.
In the meantime, the very excited Pocket Rocket commented that, “As an athlete, it’s a great feeling to know that your entire country, and importantly your community is supporting you and the Waterhouse community continues to give me tremendous support over the years – particularly during the London Olympics. So to be able to thank Waterhouse, where my roots lie, in this major way means a lot to me and I have to thank Digicel for making this Community Fun Day a reality”.
During the event, and in recognition of the fact that back to school has just started, Digicel will be recognising and rewarding five University students from the Waterhouse community during the event for their extraordinary level of commitment to their studies to encourage them to continue to do a great job.
