Digicel Stars brought to public the third set of four hopefuls vying for the top prizes on the show. They were, Alwyn Bleeching for Team Jamaican Sound, Golda ‘Big Mama’ Watson representing Team R&B Soul, Ralston ‘Raje’ Bailey from Team Pop and Lawayne McLean for the glorified Team Gospel.

Team Gospel’s, Lawayne McLean delivered a praiseworthy performance with her rendition of ‘My Redeemer Lives’ by Nicole Mullen. Her debut on the Digicel Stars stage wowed the studio audience and had her mentor Carlene Davis, who was very happy with her performance on the show, lifting her hands in praise. The mentors all gave her a passing grade in her performance and D-Major said she chose the perfect song for her voice, range and tone. Conroy Wilson exclaimed “Come and POP for Jesus and see just how wonderful you would be”.

Ralston ‘Raje’ Bailey, the only male face representing Team Pop, not only wowed the audience with his energetic performance but also with his stylish outfit. Raje performed ‘Summer Medley 2011’ by Sam Tsui & Kurt Schneider. Complete with all the elements of a good performance, Raje had the audience singing, dancing and party rocking to his tunes. At the end of the medley the mentors said it was a very nice presentation and he had a unique sound. However, Jamaican Sound mentor Derrick Coffie pointed out that he needs more practice at singing and dancing at the same time. His mentor Conroy Wilson simply said “I liked his performance, him Pop it Up.”

Meanwhile, the visually impaired Alwyn Bleeching, for Team Jamaican Sound, gave an excellent rendition of Raging Fyah’s ‘Judgment Day’ that got the mentors talking about his very powerful voice. Team R&B/Soul came with Golda ‘Big Mama’ Watson doing her version of the 1965 Motown R&B smash hit by the Temptations ‘My Girl’. She aptly renamed it ‘My Guy’ and gave a very colourful performance.

Special guest performer and co-host in the BlackBerry Lounge was none other than dancehall artiste Kip Rich, who performed his new single Facebook.
