THE “MEK WI RICH TOGEDDAH PROMOTION” TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The “Mek Wi Rich Togeddah Promotion” (the “Promotion”) frequently asked Questions (“FAQ”) and Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) apply to you and govern your participation in the Promotion for chances to win certain prizes .You should read these FAQs and Terms carefully before participating in the Promotion.

“We” or “us” means Digicel (Jamaica) Limited, a company registered under the laws of Jamaica with registered offices at 14 Ocean Boulevard, Kingston, Jamaica. References to “we”, “our” and “us” in these Terms also includes our subsidiaries and affiliates (“Affiliates”) from time to time.

“I” or “You” means the person participating in this promotion.

If you do not agree to or accept any of these Terms, you should stop participating in the Promotion immediately.

 

1.       What is the “Mek Wi Rich Togeddah” Promotion”?

Digicel is offering its prepaid and postpaid customers the opportunity to participate in the “Mek Wi Rich Togeddah Promotion” subject to these terms and conditions. An entry into this promotion allows you to WIN a share of JMD $42Million in cash and prizes as set out in Section 7.

2.       What is the promotional period for the Promotion?

This promotion is valid from Wednesday, July 14, 2021 12:01 am through to Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 11:59:59 pm.

3.       Who is eligible to enter the Promotion, “Eligible Customers”?

In order to be eligible to participate in this Promotion, you must be a Digicel prepaid or postpaid customer.

The following customers are excluded from participating in the Promotion:

a.     Postpaid Corporate & Business account customers;

b.     Employees/families of employees (Spouse and Children), employees of affiliated companies associated with this promotion and

c.     Digicel + only customers. (previously “Home & Entertainment” customers)

d.     Digicel Postpaid Mifi Plan customers

e.     Postpaid customers with overdue amounts

f.      Roaming Customers

g.     Directors of Digicel as at August 20, 2020

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.       How does a customer enter into this promotion?

The qualifying activities to gain an entry into this promotion are as follows:

1.     Call to Win: The customer may call ‘142’ from their mobile device. The charge associated with this call is JMD $100 per call from their existing credit or credit limit. This does not include any existing bundled minutes or credit advances known as “Digi-Loans”

2.     Purchasing entries via *142#: Dialling UMM code *142#. Once dialled, customers will receive a menu option to purchase an entry at a charge of JMD $100 from their existing credit or credit limit. Customers can also check the number of entries using *142# at no cost.

3.     Signing up for a new sim card: Any subscriber who purchases and activates a new SIM card during the Promotional Period (either postpaid or prepaid) shall gain an entry into the promotion. 

4.     Porting Customer: Prepaid customers shall gain an entry into this promotion when they have ported their number to Digicel during the promotional period. Postpaid customers shall gain an entry into the promotion if they port their number to Digicel and activate any of the following eligible plans:

5.       Will the customer be notified when to enter the promotion?

·         Customers will be notified when they enter the promotion. Once the customer performs one of the aforementioned qualifying activities to enter, they will be notified via SMS.

Sample SMS:

“You just purchased x entries in the Mek Wi Rich Togeddah promo! You now have xxx entries in the Grand Draw! Buy more entries to increase your chances! “

·         Prepaid customers will be able to check their total count of entries by dialling *142#. When they do, they will get a SMS response telling them the total number of entries they have in the promotion.

·         Post-paid customers can call Digicel customer care at (876) 619-5000 to confirm the number of entries they have made.

 

6.       How many times can a customer enter and win?

There is no limitation on how often a customer can enter. A customer can enter the promotion multiple times once they have the available credit or credit limit (in the case of Postpaid Customers).

Each entry is valued at JMD$100. Each customer can only win the weekly cash prize of JMD $1,000,000 once for the duration of the promotion. However, all persons who enter the promotion are eligible for the Grand Prize Draw, whether or not they have previously won a weekly prize.

 

To be eligible for the weekly cash prize, the entry must be made during the specific week of the promotion, that is, before the start of the next week.

 

In other words, all entries received, in addition to the grand prize draw, will only be eligible for the next weekly prize draw. For instance: 

ü   If a customer purchases an entry prior to Weekly Draw 1, they will only be eligible for Weekly Draw 1.  

ü  If a customer purchases an entry after Weekly Draw 1, but before Weekly Draw 2, they will only be eligible for Weekly Draw 2, and not Weekly Draw 3.

 

7.       Rewards and Prizes

N.B “Draw Date” refers internal draws done by the Digicel Raffle Manager and “Social Media Live Draw” refers to the final weekly winner draw for the JMD$1M cash prize and the weekly consolation prizes conducted on Instagram by Digicel Representatives.

Weekly Cash Prize Draw

Each Wednesday at 2:00pm at 14 Ocean Boulevard, the Digicel Raffle Manager will randomly select 50 numbers/customers, from which the weekly cash prize winner and consolation prize winners will be selected the following week (according to the schedule above).

The final selection of the weekly winners shall be done in the following week via the social media live draw conducted on the Digicel Jamaica Instagram page between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. The list of 50 numbers will be added to a bag from which the host of the show will randomly pick. Once the host pulls the number he/she will call the number and request the recipient’s name.

Two (2) consecutive attempts will be made to call the customer on the live show. After which, another live randomized draw shall be conducted to ascertain a substitute winner utilizing the same procedure set out in this subsection. This will be done until the host is successful.

The weekly draw will take place on the dates specified in the schedule above at 6 Altamont Crescent, Kingston 6 at the Mystique Studios for the first 8 social media weekly live draws and Grand Prize Draw.

Consolation Prize Draw

After the cash prize winner has been selected and succesfully contacted, the host will pull additional numbers from the bag and read out the numbers on the live show. These persons will win a consolation prize of a Samsung Galaxy A71 or a 10in Samsung Tab A. Only 15 consolation prizes will be issued each week.

NB. Persons whose numbers were pulled by the Raffle Manager, but who missed the call during the social media live draw will be automatically added to the list of 15 consolation prize winners.

The prizes will be issued in the order in which they are picked, that is, the first ten numbers (excluding the number of the cash prize winner), will receive phones and the final five numbers will receive tablets.

 

Below The Line Commercial Prizes

Commercial prizes will be shared with all customers who enter the competition, including the weekly cash prize and consolation prize winners. All persons who enter will win the commercial prize laid out in the table above depending on their subscription and if they have a smartphone or not.

 

Grand Prize Draw

For the final draw by the Raffle manager (September 15, 2021 at 2.30p), 50 numbers will be pulled from the final week of entries for the final weekly cash prize and consolation prizes. An additional 10 numbers will be selected by the Raffle Manager from the pool of total entries from the start to the end of the promotion, for the grand prize ( first and second place prize winners).

On the final social media live draw on September 17, 2021 between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, the weekly winner will be selected as previously outlined. After this is done, the grand prize (first and second place winners) will be called in a similar process whereby the second place winner will be conatcted first and the grand prize winner will be contacted afterwards.

 

Prize redemption process and use:

After all the social media live draws and winners announced live on air, Digicel shall contact the winners by a follow-up call within twenty-four hours of the said notification and have the customer’s entry validated and banking information confirmed for the payment of the captioned prize.

Weekly Cash prize

The first person who answers the call on the social media live draw and shares their name will be the winner of the JMD$1M prize. The winner will be contacted by a Digicel representative within 24 hours after the show to obtain the winner’s information, primarily:

-       Full Name

-       Contact Number

-       Age

-       Address

-       Valid Government ID Number (Licence, Passport, Voter’s ID)

-       Bank Details (for direct deposit)

In the event that winner is under the age of 18years, they will have to share the above information for themselves and for their parent or guardian. Their student IDs will be valid, however, the bank account must be in their name or the name of their parent/guardian.

They will be advised that they will be required to make an appearance on the following week of the social media live show where they will have to present a valid Jamaican Government issued ID (Driver’s Licence, Passport, Voter’s ID) and/or the ID of a parent/guardian (for winners who are minors) and a bank statement. If they are unable to provide same when they go into the studio, they will have to forfeit their prize. If they successfully provide all the information, they will appear on the show and receive a giant cheque.

Payment will be made via bank transfer within fourteen (14) days from the cheque handover on the social media live show.

 

Consolation Prize

Consolation prize winners will be contacted within 24 hours of the social media live draw and will be required to provide the following information:

-       Full Name

-       Contact Number

-       Age

-       Address

-       Valid Government ID Number (Licence, Passport, Voter’s ID)

In the event that winner is under the age of 18 years, they will have to share the above information for themselves and for their parent or guardian. Their student IDs will be valid.

They will be advised of the retail store location to collect their prize.

Customers are required to claim or redeem their consolation prize within fourteen (14) days or the prize will be forfeited.

 

Below The Line Commercial prizes

Customers will be notified of these prizes within 24 hours of the social media live draw via SMS.

 

Grand Prizes

The prize redemption process for the weekly cash prize winner will be applied to the grand prize winners, ie:

The winner will be contacted by a Digicel representative in 24 hours after the show to obtain the winner’s information, primarily:

-       Full Name

-       Contact Number

-       Age

-       Address

-       Valid Government ID Number (Licence, Passport, Voter’s ID)

-       Bank Details (for direct deposit)

In the event that winner is under the age of 18 years, they will have to share the above information for themselves and for their parent or guardian. Their student IDs will be valid, however, the bank account must be in their name or the name of their parent/guardian.

Once the information is provided, they will be invited to the 14 Ocean Boulevard where they will do a cheque handover and provide their IDs and bank statement. From there, their photo and video will be taken.

Payment will be made via bank transfer within fourteen (14) days from the cheque handover on the social media live show.

 

Redemption

 

a)    Customers are required to claim or redeem their cash prize within fourteen (14) business days from the date they have been notified of the prize win or the prize will be forfeited,(Digicel shall retain the prize if it is forfeited

 

b)    Prizes may not be transferred or exchanged unless otherwise stipulated by the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission.

 

c)     Digicel reserves the right to award any forfeited prizes to another participant in the Promotion and to substitute Prizes where reasonably required upon consultation and approval of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission.

 

d)    Save in the event of its negligence, neither Digicel, nor any other person or party associated with the Promotion, their associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors or any of its personnel involved in the Promotion, shall be liable whatsoever for any loss or damage incurred or suffered, death or personal injury suffered or sustained, or costs incurred, arising from either participation in the Promotion or from claiming any Reward.

 

Additional Terms and Conditions

A.    This Promotion is offered for your personal use and not for commercial use and you agree not to sell any rewards redeemed through this Promotion.

 

B.     We reserve the right to disqualify you or terminate (upon consultation and approval of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission) this offer if, in our opinion, the Promotion is being abused, such abuse to include but not be limited to selling or attempts to sell the prizes, whether on a commercial basis or otherwise, general abuse deemed as an attempt to undermine the integrity of our services.

 

 

C.    The selected winners must have complied with these Terms and Conditions to enter and be on an active, qualifying contract with no accounts held with Digicel being in arrears to be eligible to win the prizes.

 

D.    We reserve the right to modify or discontinue (permanently or temporarily), this Promotion being offered to you upon consultation and approval of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission.

 

E.     If a prize is unavailable, we may, in our discretion, substitute the prize with an alternative prize to the equal value and/or specification with the approval of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission.

 

F.     We reserve the right to, at any time, with or without notice, vary or cancel the terms and conditions of this Promotion upon consultation and approval of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission. In the event of us giving notice to you of any such changes to or cancellation of the Promotion, it shall suffice for us to give you notice via messages to your handset/device or to post such notification on the Digicel website or the App. Any such notification shall be effective immediately or as of the date referred to in such notifications.

 

G.   Any personal data relating to participants will be used solely for the purposes of this promotion by Digicel and/or by any agent appointed by it to assist with running the promotion on behalf of Digicel and will not be disclosed to a third party for any other purpose without the individual’s prior consent. By entering this Promotion, you consent to the use of your personal data by Digicel and/or any agent appointed by it to assist with running the promotion for the purposes of administration of the promotion (including publishing your full name and county and/or disclosing it to third parties on request if you are the winner) and any other purposes to which you have consented. H.    Winners may be required to take part in related publicity, including (without limitation) publication of the name and image of a promotion winner along with their winning entry via Digicel’s website, social media and other press and media channels. No additional payment will be given for this.
