Digicel (Jamaica) Limited’s Fair Usage Policy
How the Fair Usage Policy Works
Digicel’s Fair Usage Policy is intended to ensure that all individual subscribers are able to access our network and enjoy our services.
We have established Fair Usage Thresholds for our services by reference to typical individual subscriber usage (particularly the volume and length of calls likely to be made and data used by individual subscribers). The Fair Usage Threshold may vary from time to time depending on typical individual subscriber usage of our services.
If your usage of our services materially exceeds the Fair Usage Threshold over any period (to be determined at Digicel’s sole discretion), we reserve the right to charge you for the excessive element of your usage at your price plan's standard rate or to suspend, modify or restrict your use of the services or to withdraw your access to the services entirely.
This Fair Usage Policy applies to all Digicel consumer services in Jamaica including:
-Fixed telephony
-Mobile telephony
-Fixed broadband/data
-Mobile broadband/data
-SMS services
-Television services
This policy does not apply to any of Digicel’s business or commercial offerings.
Why Have a Fair Usage Policy?
Digicel’s consumer services are designed and engineered for private non-commercial use by its Individual subscribers. Our networks are dimensioned to provide the best quality of service to a maximum number of individual subscribers, on the assumption that each individual subscribers’ use of the services falls within normal personal use. Whilst we do offer unlimited plans which incorporate some of these services, the word ‘unlimited’ should not be construed to mean the services can be used in any manner without limitation. The services are NOT designed or intended for:
-Business or commercial;
-Use of devices to reroute calls;
-Resale of any service from our network;
-For bridging conference calls;
-For service to link two or more communications devices together for the purposes of providing
-A permanent or semi-permanent circuit;
-voice services other than person to person voice communication; or
-Unreasonable abusive or fraudulent use.
Individual subscribers for our services share some common infrastructure, communication links and other network resources. This fair usage policy is meant to protect the available network resources which are used to deliver our services for those who mean to use it as it is intended.
