The “Shake to Win Christmas Promotion”

These Digicel “Shake to Win Christmas Promotion” (the “Promotion”) Frequently asked Questions (“FAQ”) and Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) apply to you and govern your participation in the Promotion for chances to win certain prizes. You should read these FAQs and Terms carefully before participating in the Promotion.

“We” or “us” means Digicel (Jamaica) Limited, a company registered under the laws of Jamaica with registered offices at 14 Ocean Boulevard, Kingston. References to “we”, “our” and “us” in these Terms also includes our subsidiaries and affiliates (“Affiliates”) from time to time.

“I” or “You” means the person/customer participating in the Promotion (and “my” and “your” shall have the same meaning).

By participating in the Promotion, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

These Terms incorporate the MyDigicel mobile application (the “MyDigicel App”) Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy which you can access via the App.

If you do not agree to or accept any of these Terms, you should stop participating in the Promotion immediately.


1.     What is the “Shake to Win Christmas Promotion”?

Digicel is offering its prepaid and postpaid customers the opportunity to participate in the “Shake to Win Christmas Promotion” subject to these terms and conditions. This promotion has three components namely:

1.     Shake it;

2.     General Prize Competition; and

3.     Radio Giveaway.

The Shake it component of the Promotion allows you to WIN prizes by shaking your phone via the Shake It gaming mechanism in the My Digicel App. Each participating customer will have an opportunity to win prizes daily and weekly.

Customers may also participate in the Promotion by conducting a qualifying activity that will allow entry into the General Prize Competition component of the Promotion.

For the Radio Giveaway, random customers will be contacted by Radio Stations Zip 103 FM and Mello FM and stand a chance to win $25,000.

2.     What is the promotional period for the Promotion?

The Christmas promotion is valid from Thursday, November 21, 2019 12:00AM through to December 31, 2019 at 11:59pm.

3.     Which customers are excluded from participating in this Promotion?

a.     Postpaid Corporate & Business account customers;

b.     Employees/families of employees (spouse & children) and

c.      Postpaid customers with overdue amounts.


4.     Who is eligible to enter the Shake it component of the Promotion?

In order to be eligible for the Shake it  element of the Promotion, you must be a Digicel customer with any active Digicel prepaid and/or postpaid bundle or plan from the selection of “Eligible Plans” as defined below. This includes customers who activate a new Eligible Plan during the promotional period as well as customers on an existing Eligible Plan.

5. How does an eligible customer win prizes in the Shake It element of the Promotion?

Once a prepaid customer activates any plan and a postpaid customer activates any one of the selected plans at point 6 below, then signs in to the MyDigicel App, sees the ‘shake it’ icon and shakes their device they will stand a chance to win a daily or weekly prize.

N.B. Each day beginning November 21, 2019, customers who adhere to the qualifying criteria at point 6 below for the Shake it element, will stand a chance to win daily prizes. 

Customers who adheres to the qualifying criteria for the Shake it element of the Promotion that signs in and shakes their device from 12:01am to 11:59pm daily, will be selected within the MyDigicel App for any of the daily prizes as specified below:

                         i.          One (1) customer will win One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) daily and two (2) customers will win One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) on Saturdays only

                        ii.          Additionally, five (5) customers will win Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000) daily and Ten (10) customers will win Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000) on Saturdays only;

                       iii.          Five (5) customers will win an Alcatel 5033 smartphone daily and Ten (10) customers will win an Alcatel 5033 smartphone on Saturdays only and

                      iv.          Two (2) customers will win a Samsung Galaxy A50 daily.

Winners will be selected and notified via the MyDigicel App and will be contacted by a Digicel representative.

6. Which Digicel prepaid/postpaid bundles/plans are eligible for the My Digicel App Shake it component of the Promotion?

Prepaid Plans

As at December 3, 2019 any prepaid plan(s) activated are eligible and will give customers one (1) shake in the Shake it (MyDigicel app) component.

Postpaid Plans

o   Postpaid Freedom Plan

o   Anywhere Minutes  add-on

o   Data add-on

o   Roaming Plans

Customers can also find the list of eligible plans in the Shake It section of the App identified with the Shake It Icon {}.  Postpaid plans listed in the MyDigicel App that do not have the Shake It icon are excluded from the Promotion.


7. How does a customer participate in the Shake it aspect of the Promotion?

   i.          To participate in the Promotion you will need to have activated an Eligible Plan via one of the following channels:

1.     MyDigicel App

2.     USSD/UMM (by dialing *147#)

 ii.          Eligible Customers will see the Shake It icon {}, inviting them to participate in the Promotion.

iii.          By clicking on the Shake It icon {} and accepting the terms and conditions of same, the customer has confirmed their participation in the Promotion.

iv.          Once an Eligible Customer agrees to participate in the promotion, they can then Shake To Win!

 v.          Please note the Shake It action must be completed in the MyDigicel App.

vi.          The Promotion includes a “Guaranteed Win” day (subject to the applicable Promotion terms and conditions as outlined below) on Saturdays and “Chances to Win” on every other day.

·       Guaranteed Win: Every Saturday during the promotional period, prepaid customers who have any active plan and Postpaid customers who have an active Eligible Plan will receive a SMS push and/or an In-App notification to play ‘Shake It’ for a guaranteed prize.

·       Chance to Win: Every other day, eligible customers stand a chance of winning a prize after activating a NEW Eligible Plan and will receive an SMS push and/or an In-App notification to play Shake It for a chance to win.


·       Guaranteed Win Eligibility: Eligible Customers must complete the Shake It action in the MyDigicel App on the Saturday to receive their instant win prize.


·       Chance to Win Eligibility: Eligible Customers will have twenty-four (24) hours from the issue date and time of the Shake It notification to complete the Shake It action in the MyDigicel App for a chance to win a prize.

vii.          This Promotion will be accessible to Eligible Customers while roaming, but any prizes won will only be available to be used and redeemed in Jamaica.


8. Will customers be notified when to participate in Promotion?

·       Yes.  Every Saturday during the promotional period, customers will be notified about the Guaranteed Win Shake being available.

·       Whenever a customer activates an Eligible Plan, they will also receive a SMS notification that they are eligible for a chance to Shake.

9. How many times can a customer win in the Shake It component of the Promotion?

The maximum number of wins per Customer is once (1) per day.

10. How does a customer participate in the General Prize Competition component of the Promotion?


Customers can enter the General Prize Competition by conducting any qualifying activity as outlined below:

                            i.          Top up – Single top ups of $300 or more using any Digicel Top-Up method that includes Flexcards, Flex-e, BankFlex, WebFlex, Phone 2 Phone, Direct Top Up, My Digicel App, Digicel International Top Up and Digicel Online Top Up. Credit U and Digi Loan do not qualify as top-up methods. Cumulative top ups do not count towards entry into the Promotion e.g. a customer topping up with $100 x 3 within 24 hours will not qualify.   

                          ii.          Postpaid GSM

                                                     i.     Talk - 10 minutes of accumulated talk time within 24 hours by Postpaid GSM customers.

                                                   ii.     Bill payment on time and in full (new and existing customers)

                                                  iii.     New sign up/Migration – of/to Postpaid Freedom Smart, Core, Plus plans, MiFi plans (20GB/60GB) or Postpaid Start (BTL or Enhanced) plans

                                                  iv.     Add on – purchase of Voice and Data Add-on

                         iii.          4G Broadband

                                                     i.     Top up – Single top ups of $300 or more using any Digicel Top-Up method.

                                                   ii.     Bill payment on time and in full (new and existing customers Postpaid customers)

                         iv.          Plan  activation

                                                     i.     Purchase of a plan for $200 or more

                          v.          Home & Entertainment

                                                     i.     Bill payment on time and in full (new and existing customers)

                                                   ii.     New sign up – purchase of any new Home & Entertainment bundle subscription (cable & internet), Fibre internet or Cable only.

                         vi.          Acquisition (authorized dealer store)

                                                     i.     Purchase of handsets and/Mi Fi devices

                                                   ii.     SIM purchase

Each qualifying activity will give a customer one (1) entry into the General Prize Competition.

11. How does an eligible customer win prizes in the General Prize Competition?

Winners will be selected randomly for the weekly and grand prize draws from the pool of General Prize Competition entries for the particular week. A Digicel representative will contact the randomly selected persons and will ask the following question “What is the name of Digicel’s Christmas Promotion?” to which the customer must give the correct response of “Shake to Win” in order to win prizes.

12.  How will customers participate in the Radio Giveaway promotion?

A Radio Host from Mello FM and ZIP 103 FM respectively will call on air Digicel customers randomly selected by Digicel, who will stand a chance of winning cash prizes which will vary on respective dates outlined in the table below. Up to sixteen (16) Digicel customers who have downloaded the latest version of the MyDigicel App in the last seven (7) days, will be contacted and have the opportunity of winning the daily cash prize. Each day during the Radio Giveaway period, that starts on Monday, November 25, 2019 and ends on Friday, December 27, 2019 (Saturdays, Sundays and December 25, 2019 are excluded).

Upon being contacted by the radio host, customers are required to do one of the following:

(i)                answer the phone by saying "Shake to Win with Digicel" or "Digicel Shake to Win" or

(ii)              say "Shake to Win with Digicel" or "Digicel Shake to Win" immediately after the radio host introduces himself/herself and solicits a response from the participant.

If either of the above occurs, the customer will win the designated cash prize. In the event that the customer does not answer the call correctly, then they will each receive a consolation prize of $1,000 call credit for participation.

13. Rewards and Prizes

a.     The Promotion prize pool will consist of Instant Win Prizes and Other Prizes, for the MyDigicel App, Shake it & Radio Giveaway elements of the promotion, outlined below:

15. Will customers be notified when they have received a prize?


Customers will be notified via SMS and In App notification for Instant Win Prizes. See below sample confirmation text message.

Sample: “Your FREE <prize> is now active. You have received <XX>MB valid for XX days. Check your prize validity on My Digicel App any time here:”

Customers will be notified via SMS and In App notification as follows:

                                   i.          A voucher with a picture of the prize (for illustrative purposes only);

                                  ii.          A description of the prize with a QR code; and

                                 iii.          A telephone number to contact Digicel to arrange prize collection.  


16. What will customers need in order to claim Other Prizes?

                            I.          Winners must present a valid Government issued photo ID (passport, voters’ identification card or driver’s licence) and the Digicel sim on which the winning call was received on. Customer will be required to complete and sign a Redemption Form confirming their receipt of their prize for the Shake it aspect.

                          II.          All daily cash prize winners selected from the Shake it component, will see the telephone number 1 (876) 380-0011 appear in the My Digicel App. The customer may call the number stated above to receive details of prize redemption. In any event, Digicel will contact the customers within 24 hours of winning. The customers shall be required to set-up a MyCash account upon visiting their nearest dealer store as advised by their Digicel Representative with the required Government issued ID and TRN. The customer also has the option of providing an existing MyCash account number in his or her name, in order to receive the Cash prize won.

                         III.          Radio Giveaway Prize Winners shall also be required to redeem their prize via the MyCash app. A Digicel Representative will contact the customer with the details of the redemption. The customer shall be required to set-up a MyCash account upon visiting their nearest dealer store redemption center as advised by their Digicel Representative with the required Government issued ID and TRN. The customer also has the option of providing an existing MyCash account number in his or her name, in order to receive the Cash prize won.

                        IV.          The Weekly Winners of cash will be paid by Cheque which may be collected at their nearest dealer store as advised by their Digicel Representative with the required Government issued ID and TRN.

                         V.          The Grand Prize Winner shall redeem their cash prize by bank transfer.

                        VI.          All Handset Prizes (Daily & Weekly) are to be collected via the nearest dealer store as advised by a Digicel Representative.

                      VII.          In the event that a special needs customer is selected and they are unable to collect their prize, that customer will be allowed to have a representative collect the prize on their behalf who must provide: written consent from the winner endorsed by a Justice of the Peace and valid Government issued photo identification for both the winner and the representative to claim the prize.

                     VIII.          Minors under the age of 18 years (must also present a valid school ID or Passport), are eligible for this Promotion but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who must also present a National photo ID along with the birth certificate of the said minor when redeeming their prizes.


Additional Terms and Conditions

A.     This Promotion is offered for your personal use and not for commercial use and you agree not to sell any rewards redeemed through this Promotion.

B.      We reserve the right to disqualify you or terminate this offer, subject to BGLC approval, if in our opinion, the Promotion is being abused, such abuse to include but not be limited to selling or attempts to sell the prizes, whether on a commercial basis or otherwise, general abuse deemed as an attempt to undermine the integrity of our services.

C.     Winners will be required to participate in any planned publicity in connection with this Promotion. By entering the Promotion, the prize winner consents to the use of his or her name, likeness, image, photograph for any and all programming and/or publicity promotion or advertising purposes, commercial or otherwise, in all media and formats used by us or our agencies, without further compensation, throughout the entire world in perpetuity. If a winner refuses to do so, they forfeit their right to claim the prize.

D.     Digicel, with consultation and prior approval from the BGLC, reserves the right to terminate, cancel, suspend and/or modify the promotion if any fraud, virus or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, safety or proper play of the promotion. In such event, Digicel hereby specifically reserves the right (but not the obligation) to award some other prize hereunder (as determined by Digicel, with consultation and prior approval from the BGLC) by means of a random drawing from among the eligible entries received up until the time of the impairment

E.      You are solely responsible for all associated fees and costs incurred by you for redemption of Other Prizes and for connectivity and data usage in relation to your use of the App. Be reminded that once roaming, you will not be able to use any data from your local prepaid or select postpaid plans.

F.      The selected winners must have complied with these Terms to enter and be on an active, qualifying contract with no accounts held with Digicel being in arrears to be eligible to win the prizes.

G.    If a prize is unavailable, we may, subject to BGLC approval, substitute the prize with an alternative prize to the equal value and/or specification.

H.     Prizes are not exchangeable and are not redeemable for cash.

I.        Any personal data relating to participants will be used solely for the purposes of this promotion by Digicel and/or by any agent appointed by it to assist with running the promotion on behalf of the Digicel and will not be disclosed to a third party for any other purpose without the individual’s prior consent. By entering this Promotion, you consent to the use of your personal data by Digicel and/or any agent appointed by it to assist with running the promotion for the purposes of administration of the promotion (including publishing your full name and country and/or disclosing it to third parties on request if you are the winner) and any other purposes to which you have consented. J.       Winners may be required to take part in related publicity, including (without limitation) publication of the name and image of a promotion winner along with their winning entry via Digicel’s website, social media and other press and media channels. No additional payment will be given for this.

K.      In the event the grand prize winner chooses not to accept the prize or refuses to participate in promotional activity, they will forfeit any claims to the prize, which will then be awarded to another Digicel customer from the remaining qualifying entries.

L.       In addition to these Terms, you remain bound by our My Digicel App Terms and Conditions of Use.

N.     Digicel’s “Shake to Win” Christmas Promotion is authorized under Section 58 (3) of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act.
