What you need to do before you travel abroad
Perhaps you're going away on business, on holiday, or maybe just for a short break. Well, if you're taking your mobile with you there are a few things to do before you go.
It's obvious, but remember to pack your mobile phone and don't forget your charger and travel adaptor.
There are different things you need to do if you are a Digicel Postpaid Customer or a Digicel Flex Customer.
Digicel Postpaid Customers
Before you are ready to travel, you may need to pay a roaming deposit before you can use your phone abroad. To do this, simply call Customer Care or visit a Digicel store and ask about using your mobile overseas.
All Digicel Select customers (after being pre-approved) can automatically use their phones while overseas. All of Digicel’s phones are at least Dual-band phones and will work in most countries except the USA and Canada. You will need to use tri-band and quad-band phones in these countries. We recommend that you contact Customer Care on 124 before you leave Fiji, to verify that your phone will work in whatever country you are traveling to, and to receive more detailed information about Digicel’s roaming service.
The numbers in your phone book need to have the international dialing format of you are calling an international number e.g. +679 needs to be entered before the number for a call or text to a Fiji number.
When you arrive at your destination, your mobile will automatically select a network with the best service, you should also be able to access most of the services you use in the Fiji.
Follow These Easy Steps:
Before departure, find the Network Selection setting in your Digicel mobile phone menu and select ‘’Automatic’’. Remember to check with Customer Care that you can use your mobile in that country.
Upon arrival, turn on your phone and allow it to select Digicel’s roaming partner in the country you are visiting.
In some instances, your phone will not automatically select the Digicel roaming partner in the country you are visiting. In these cases, you will have to manually select the roaming partner. To manually select the roaming partner, scroll through the menu options in your phone until you find the ‘Network Selection’ option, select ‘Manual’, and then select the available Digicel roaming partner.
The process for changing a network selection varies for each phone, so we recommend that you refer to your phone’s manual before you depart.
How do I access my voicemail while roaming?
To access the voicemail service while roaming, please dial +6797000 555. You will then need to enter your mobile number and password. If you can’t remember your password, please call Customer Care on +679700 ROAM or +679700 7626.
Please be advised that calls diverted to your voicemail while roaming are NOT free.
Is there a charge for accessing voicemail while roaming?
To avoid incurring charges for calls forwarded to voicemail, please cancel all diverts BEFORE leaving Fiji. To find out how to do this on your phone, please consult your phone’s manual.
You are now ready to make and receive calls using your Digicel mobile phone.
Remember, we are always adding new International Roaming Partners so it's wise to ring Customer Care before you travel or check the Digicel website.
If you're not sure which type of phone you have, have a look at your mobile's User Guide or call Customer Services.
