Digicel Announces Continued Sponsorship of Carnival

June 15th 2016 - Digicel announces continued sponsorship of Carnival

Digicel renews sponsorship for fifth successive year for crime prevention motive as a partner sponsor for Duavata Carnival

Wednesday June 15, 2016 – Digicel Fiji today announced its sponsorship for the 2016 Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival with a cash and kind value of up to $13,000. This is the fifth successive year for Digicel to be the partner sponsor of this carnival.

Included in the sponsorship, apart from cash, are various prizes which will be on offer for contestants as well as to the members of the organising committee of the week-long carnival.

Digicel Fiji’s Public Relations and Sponsorship Manager, Satish Narain confirmed the new two-year sponsorship support at the launch of the carnival in Labasa, adding that this is Digicel’s support for projects up in the North.

“We are happy to sponsor the Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival for the fourth successive year. I would also like to thank the organisers of the carnival for giving this opportunity and willing to extend our partnership for this great initiative. We support the community in the North as they join hands with Police and other stakeholders to promote crime prevention,” said Narain.

In recent times, we have seen an increase in crime in the country and we are confident that this is the kind of initiative that’s needed to educate the community at large.

Narain added that Digicel introduced the great ‘Smile’ offer for the North in March this year after the devastation of Tropical Cyclone Winston. Smile offers customers to top up by $3 and get Double Up free credit any network calls with unlimited Digicel calls and texts. Digicel also went around affected villages in Savusavu, Taveuni and Bua and handed out farming tools and school bags to children.

Carnival chief organizer, Mr. Satish Kumar thanked Digicel for their continued support towards the event.

The Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival will be held at Subrail Park, Labasa from 25th June to 2nd July.
