Digicel provides timely boost to special and orphan homes with back-to-school items.

Friday 15th January 2016 – Digicel Fiji today in partnership with two of its suppliers Star Printery and SingzPlus provided some special children with back-to-school items.

The group of companies gave exercise books and other school stationary to HART Valelevu, Saint Christopher’s Home in Naulu and Dilkusha Home in Davuilevu.

Digicel Fiji’s Public Relations and Sponsorship Manager, Mr. Satish Narain says this is a fantastic gesture at the start of the year.

“This will see close to a hundred children in these special institutions benefit from the timely back-to school aid as children prepare to head back to classes next week.”

“This is a timely donation and is part of our corporate social responsibility and this is our assistance to the underprivileged in the community. We know many families are struggling to buy basic stationary and exercise books and this gift will who have requested for books for their children for the new school year.”

“Our package included over 300 exercise books for each institution along with everyday school needs like ball pens, pencils, sharpeners, rulers, erasers and color pencils.”

Star Printery Limited Director, Mr. Vikesh Chauhan says they have been very active in the Community and have always believed in giving back to the Community in whichever way possible.

“Educare Exercise books have been in the market since 2015 and in partnership with Digicel, were launched with the children of Dilkusha, St Christopher's and the Hart Home. We are indeed privileged to once again partner with Digicel and contribute towards this noble cause.”

“Educare Exercise Books are based on the Foundation of Human Values and since we all agree that children are the foundation of every country, we would like to take a small step in building a Compassionate and disciplined foundation for Fiji through our Educare range of Exercise Books. Every Educare Book has an Inspiring and Motivational story based on Moral Values as we thoroughly believe that the End of Education is Character.”

Saint Christopher’s Home’s Sister Sandra was happy to receive books and stationary from the companies.

“This will greatly help our students who will be going back to school and they will now have new books and stationary for the new school year.”

Head of Dilkusha Home, Deaconess Leba Laveti acknowledged the support from the companies and said this will help the children a lot in their back-to-school preparations.

There were more than a thousand books distributed to the three institutions along with stationary items like ball pens, pencils, colour pencils, rubbers and rulers.

Digicel Fiji in partnership with Star Primtery and SignzPlus raised money for this during Christmas and New Year at the Christmas tree at Sukuna Park by selling candy floss and a public donation box.
