DIGICEL ANNOUNCES NEW GROUP CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Kingston, Jamaica – Wednesday, 23rd August 2017. Digicel today announced the appointment of Ray Leclercq as its Group Chief Financial Officer effective 1st September. Ray succeeds long-time Digicel executive, Lawrence Hickey, who informed the Board of Directors late last year of his decision to depart the Group by December 2017. Lawrence is leaving Digicel in order to spend more time with his family.
Ray brings to Digicel a wealth of financial and management experience and a strong track record across a number of businesses where he has managed operations, M&A, financings, process improvement and transformation projects.
In his most recent role, Ray was the Group CFO of Unit 4, a private equity-owned ERP software provider. Prior to that, Ray held a number of senior roles with The Gores Group, BT Plc and Centrica Plc. Ray has been working alongside Lawrence since April this year to ensure a seamless transition and Lawrence has agreed to remain with the business until December to support the Group’s ongoing transformation project.
Commenting on his appointment, Ray Leclercq, said; “I am excited to be taking on the role of CFO at this key point in the company’s journey. With the Digicel 2030 Global transformation programme continuing apace, we are bringing our commitments to delivering a new and fit-for-the-future organisational structure coupled with an amazing network and customer experience to life. I would also like to thank Lawrence for his support and guidance during the transition over the past several months and wish him well for the future.”
In congratulating Ray on his appointment, Digicel Group CEO, Colm Delves, said; “As we continue the successful execution of our Digicel 2030 transformation programme, I would like to wish Ray all the best in this key role. Likewise, the Board and I would like to express our deep and heartfelt gratitude to Lawrence for the very significant contribution he has made to the business over his many years of dedicated service and wish him much success in his future endeavours.”
Commenting on his decision to leave the business, Lawrence Hickey said; “I have enjoyed 15 fantastic years with the business where it has grown from a single operation in Jamaica to operations in 32 countries today, with revenues of over US$2.5bn. I would like to thank Colm Delves and the Board for all their support over the years. Ray and I have worked well together over the last several months and I know I am leaving the Group finance function in capable hands under his supervision. I wish Denis and the team the very best of success as the Group moves on to its next phase of growth.”
