What is a Digicel Postpaid Roaming Pass?

A Digicel Postpaid Roaming Pass allows Postpaid customers to benefit from reduced voice, SMS and data roaming rates when travelling to the United States, Canada, and all EU countries, excluding Slovenia and Cyrus, as well as Norway and Turkey.

Quick overview of the Digicel Postpaid Roaming Pass

  • Low flat rates when roaming in the USA, Canada, EU (except Slovenia and Cyrus), Norway and Turkey.
  • Requires activation.  Postpaid customers dial *700# to activate.
  • Postpaid Roaming Pass costs $30 for a 30 day pass (either once off for 30 days or perpetually)
  • Postpaid customers can activate in Bermuda or while in the USA, Canada, EU (except Slovenia and Cyrus), Norway or Turkey.
  • Postpaid customers require an active data plan in order for data to work while roaming 

How does a Digicel Postpaid Roaming Pass work?

A Digicel Roaming Pass allows Digicel Postpaid customers to benefit from reduced rates while roaming in the aforementioned countries. Digicel Postpaid customers can activate a 30 day Digicel Roaming Pass for $30 by dialing *700#.

**Calls from Bermuda will still incur per minute charge from your international long distance provider.  Without an international long distance provider, calls from Bermuda will not be received while roaming anywhere in the world.

All voice and data usage will be rounded up to the full minute or megabyte. 

With a Digicel Postpaid Roaming Pass, will I get these reduced roaming rates when calling anywhere in the world?

As long as you have a long distance provider a Digicel Roaming Pass will allow low cost roaming rates for calls made to anywhere in the world (excluding Guyana and Digicel Pacific Markets for prepaid customers) when calling from the USA,  Canada, EU (except Slovenia and Cyrus), Norway and Turkey.  Please note that you will be charged per minute for roaming as well as the rate per minute of your agreed long distance plan.  See here to learn more about Digicel Long Distance.

While roaming with a Digicel Postpaid Roaming Pass, can I receive calls from Bermuda?

To receive calls from Bermuda at any time (even without a Digicel Roaming Pass), you must have an active long distance plan in Bermuda.  Calling Bermuda while roaming does not require an active long distance plan. International calls may be possible depending on the overseas carrier’s (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Vodafone, etc.) network system settings.

When roaming in the aforementioned countries without a Digicel Roaming Pass, the following roaming rates will apply:

Can I activate and use a Digicel Roaming Pass with any mobile device?

You can activate and use a Digicel Roaming Pass with any compatible handset that is Tri-band and at least (900/1800/1900 MHz).  Additionally, you can activate a Digicel Roaming Pass on a Digicel Postpaid SIM card for use with any tablet or laptop.  

Do customers have to activate a Digicel Pass before they travel?

No, Postpaid customers can activate a Digicel Roaming Pass on or off island.  

If I sign up for a Digicel Roaming Pass mid-month but opt to have the plan automatically renew, will I be charged for the full 30 Day period for the first month?

No, should you opt to have the Digicel Roaming Pass as an ongoing additional service on your account, the first month’s billing will be prorated. 

Where in the USA, Canada, UK or Ireland will customers be able to use the Digicel Roaming Pass?

Once a Digicel Roaming Pass is activated, customers will be able to use voice, SMS and data services at reduced roaming rates in the Americas (mainland only), in Canada, all EU countries, excluding Slovenia and Cyrus, as well as Norway and Turkey. Digicel reserves the right to restrict the offer to certain networks within the roaming countries. Our website will be updated with any restrictions.

Will customers with 4G capable handsets browse at 4G speeds?

Customers will only browse at 4G speeds if they are connected to 4G network while roaming.

If I activate a Digicel Roaming Pass before roaming, will the reduced rates apply immediately?

Yes, the reduced rates will apply where applicable.

If I should travel from the aforementioned countries to a Digicel Caribbean country while my Digicel Roaming Pass is active, will I need to send the activation code again?

No, once the Digicel Roaming Pass is active on your account you will not need to reactivate if you are travelling from the aforementioned countries to any other country that Digicel operates in or vice versa.  If you travel to and from the USA, Canada or any other country on the list of applicable countries while your pass is still active, you will not need to reactivate the plan.

What happens if my data plan expires before my Digicel Roaming Pass?

Digicel postpaid customers can activate at any time. While roaming, if you need to activate or reactivate your prepaid data or mobile internet plan, you may contact Customer Care by dialing 611 from your Digicel device or +1 441 500 5000 using any phone.  Contacting Customer Care while roaming will incur standard roaming costs without a Digicel Roaming Pass.

While roaming, is a Digicel Postpaid customer able to benefit from Unlimited Nights & Weekends?

No, Digicel Bermuda customers will not be able to benefit from any local products or promotions while roaming.

Will I receive a notification when my Digicel Roaming Pass expires?

Yes, you will receive a notification 24hrs before a Digicel Roaming Pass is due to expire and a second notification when a Digicel Roaming Pass has expired.  Once a Digicel Roaming Pass has expired, regular roaming rates will apply.

 

How can I renew a Digicel Roaming Pass?

If you purchase a Digicel Postpaid Roaming Pass for a 30 day period, you will have to reactivate the product upon expiry by dialing *700#.  Customers can opt to have this product ongoing as an automatic monthly recurring plan. 

How do I cancel my Digicel Roaming Pass?

Once a Digicel Roaming Pass is active on your account, it cannot be cancelled.  The Digicel Roaming Pass will only expire at the end of the subscription period, i.e.: 14 days prepaid or 30 days postpaid unless you have subscribed to a reoccurring monthly plan.

How do I contact Customer Care while roaming?

Digicel customers can contact Customer Care by dialing 611 from their Digicel device or +1 441 500 5000 from any phone while roaming.  Alternatively, you can email info.bermuda@digicelgroup.com. Contacting Customer Care while roaming will incur standard roaming costs without a Digicel Roaming Pass.

Is a Digicel Roaming Pass available for Digicel Business Closed User Group (CUG) customers?  

Yes, the administrator of a CUG can request to have a Digicel Roaming Pass activated for CUG subscribers. 

Is a Digicel Roaming Pass available for Digicel Family Plan customers?  

Yes, the primary account holder of a Digicel Family Plan can activate a Digicel Roaming Pass as an additional service for any member of the plan.  A Digicel Roaming Pass cannot be shared amongst users.

Do customers have to activate a Prepaid Roaming Pass before they travel?

No, Digicel Prepaid customers can activate a Roaming Pass on or off island. Our Prepaid customers can simply dial *100#

Can a Digicel Prepaid customer check their balances while roaming?

Yes, Prepaid customers can check their balances anywhere by dialing *120#.  

How can I renew a Prepaid Roaming Pass?

You can reactivate the Digicel Roaming Pass upon completion of the 20 day subscription period by dialing *100#.

What happens if my data plan expires before my Prepaid Roaming Pass?

All prepaid customers that wish to use data while roaming must have an active data plan in order for data to work while roaming.  Therefore, you will not be able to browse the web if your prepaid data or mobile internet plan expires before your Prepaid Roaming Pass expires.  While roaming, if you need to activate or reactivate your prepaid data or mobile internet plan, you may contact Customer Care by dialing 611 from your device or +1 441 500 5000 using any phone. Contacting Customer Care while roaming will incur standard roaming costs without a Prepaid Roaming Pass.

If I receive bonus credit (triple or double bubbles) on my Digicel Prepaid account, can this be used while roaming?

No, bonus credit is a local promotion and will not be able available for use while roaming.

If I purchase a Prepaid Roaming Pass but do not have available credit on my account will I still be able to make calls, texts and browse the Internet?

Should you have sufficient credit of $20 to purchase and activate a Prepaid Roaming Pass, but run out of credit while roaming, you will not be able to make calls, text or browse the Internet until you Top Up your Digicel Prepaid SIM.  You can Top Up anytime, anywhere online via www.digicelbermuda.com.
