Following on from our first 5 handy Android tips here’s 5 more.
1. One or two fingers
Here’s a simple tip. A one finger swipe on your home screen brings down notifications, a two finger swipe brings down quick settings.
2. Zoom in on anything
Go to Settings, then Accessibility, tap Magnification gestures and switch to on. You can now triple tap to magnify, use two a fingers drag to pan and a two finger pinch to adjust zoom.
3. Set up automatic phone unlock when you’re at home
This one is for those of you with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Smart unlock removes your phone’s PIN or password in certain locations you trust, like home or work. To set this up go to Settings > Security > Smart Lock > Trusted places and add to trusted places.
If your device is running Android 4.4 KitKat, you won’t have this functionality but if you would like this feature watch this hack.
4. More ways to extend battery life
Turn off Bluetooth and GPS (Settings > Location > switch to off or Mode >Batterysaving). You can also see all apps that are currently running by going to Settings >Application Manager > Running then closing those apps or Settings >Accountsand select which apps you want to stop syncing.
4. Load multiple links
We recently discovered Flynx which is brilliant for loading multiple links. Tap on a link and a little bubble will pop up on the right side of your screen with a loading animation. Once the link is done loading tap the bubble to read the article. When your finished simply drag the bubble down to close it. Much like Facebook messenger. You can load multiple pages at once and they don’t disappear if you move to another screen.
