At Digicel our Customers and our Team are our top priority. With this in mind, we have stepped up our preparation and awareness activities at our offices, stores and other points of contact in light of the international Coronavirus situation.
We take our role as a provider of essential services to the public and business community seriously and have a duty of care to keep our business running no matter what. We do this because we know how important it is for our customers to stay connected with family and loved ones and to manage their businesses.
With the situation ever-developing, we will continue to enhance and evolve our response as time goes on and will keep you informed with regular updates.
Here's what we've been doing:
We have activated our business continuity plans and protocols to ensure a coordinated and proactive response.
We have teamed up with the Ministry of Health & Wellness and Ministry of Innovation, Science & Smart Technology to help make that happen.
Our Technical Team are mobilized and on-call 24/7 to ensure we continue to deliver the fastest most reliable mobile and fibre services in Barbados
There will be no data charge for Barbadians who want to access information on Covid-19 via www.gisbarbados.gov.bb
We have implemented a ban on all work-related travel for our employees and any employees travelling for personal matters will self-quarantine on their return to Barbados as a precautionary measure
We are continuing to support, inform and educate our staff on good hygiene and prevention measures.
We have cancelled all planned large scale events and training sessions.
We've enhanced our standards and procedures for hygiene, handwashing and sanitation and increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection of high-touch surfaces in our office and retail environments.
We recently undertook an office drill to assess our response effectiveness should a mandatory shutdown be implemented by the Government of Barbados.
First aid training conducted by the Barbados Red Cross was undertaken with members of staff. The team learnt first responses to seizures, exposure to toxins or gases, treatment of burns, cuts, sprains and fractures.
All our retail staff have been trained on additional hygiene precautions and our stores have hand sanitizer for staff and customers to use. In addition our retail staff will be using PPE such as polymer gloves as an additional hygiene precaution
We have a nurse in our office for our Team to consult as needed.
