Bridgetown, Barbados – Friday 8th February 2019. Digicel Barbados today announced Yaser Maher as its new Chief Executive Officer. This appointment comes on the heels of the former CEO, Alex Tasker, being appointed to the role of Executive Chairman of Digicel Barbados in October of last year.
Yaser is no stranger to the Digicel family having joined the Barbados team from Digicel Vanuatu in the Pacific where he was Chairman and CEO from June 2015. Prior to that, he was Chairman and CEO of Beeline in Laos, which is part of Veon, one of the world's largest integrated telecommunications services operators.
With a long track record of experience in mainly commercial roles largely in the telecommunications industry, Yaser has also held senior positions with Vodafone in Egypt and Italy, Etisalat in Saudi Arabia and Orascom Telecom Holding.
