25th May 2017: The 2017 UWI Games got off to an exciting start at the official opening ceremony at the Cave Hill Campus on Thursday. Themed The Making of Champions, the games continue a UWI biennial tradition as the major sporting event for the four UWI campuses.
Total communications and entertainment provider, Digicel Barbados, has signed on as a major sponsor of the games which will see over 600 athletes from across the Caribbean compete in 10 sporting disciplines and will continue for 10 days at various venues across the island.
Speaking on Digicel’s support of the games, Director of Marketing, Carolyn Shepherd, said, “Digicel remains committed to the development of our young athletes and through this sponsorship we maintain our proud history of supporting sports on the island.
