1. What is Digicel Roam Like You’re Home plan?

Digicel's Roam Like You Home service allows Digicel prepaid and postpaid customers travelling to the United States, Canada and the Caribbean to benefit from calling and SMS rates as if they were in Antigua and Barbuda. Data rates are also significantly lower on this plan.

2. Who is the Roam like you’re Home plan for?

The Roam Like You’re Home plan is for both prepaid and postpaid mobile customers.

3. How does Roam Like You’re Home work?

The Roam Like Home plan is a roaming service that allows prepaid and postpaid customers to opt in to a specialized rate plan for a subscription fee while roaming in the USA, Canada and the Caribbean for a limited duration (30 days for Postpaid, 7 days for prepaid). The service is only available on the Digicel networks in the Caribbean (excluding Guyana), AT&T, TMobile and Rogers networks in the USA and Canada. The subscription fee allows customers to access low usage rates for voice, text and data.

Once you have opted in to this plan you will be charged the same rate for voice and SMS services as you would were you in Antigua and Barbuda and access significantly lower data charges of ECD 0.30 per megabyte. These reduced rates will be applicable for the full duration of the plan. Once the plan has expired, rates will revert to standard roaming rates.

The Roam Like You Home rates are same as home rates charged at per second billing.

4. What is the cost to register for the service?

The cost to register the service varies for prepaid and postpaid customers and are as follow:

  • Prepaid – ECD 28.40 for the subscription period (7 Days)
  • Postpaid – ECD 100 for the subscription period (30 Days)

5. Do I have to activate the Roam Like You’re Home plan?

Prepaid Customers:

  • To initiate activation of Roam Like You Home by dialing *153#.
  • The plan will then need to be confirmed by dialling *153*1#.  
  • Once confirmed, activation of the plan is then completed and you will receive a text message with the confirmation.
  • You are now ready to benefit from the reduced rates while roaming.
  • This plan is for customers with roaming capable handsets.  

Postpaid Customers:

  • Postpaid customers may or may not be required to pay a roaming deposit before activating the Roam Like You're Home plan.
  • Postpaid customers are required call Customer Care (100 from a Digicel mobile phone) or visit one of our retail stores in order to activate the Roam Like You're Home plan.
  • Activated customers will be able to benefit from the reduced prices while roaming in the US, Canada and Digicel networks in the Caribbean (excluding Guyana).
  • This plan is for customers with roaming capable handsets.

 

7. How do I renew my Roam Like You’re Home plan?

There is no option to renew the Roam Like You're Home Plan. The plans can be reactivated after expiry i.e. 7 days (Prepaid) or 30 Days (Postpaid) after purchase.

8. Will I receive a notification when my Roam like You’re Home plan expires?

Yes. You will receive one (1) notification when the plan has expired. Once plan has expired, regular roaming rates will apply.

9. How do I cancel my Roam Like You’re Home plan?

The plan cannot be cancelled after activation. During the activation process you can dial *153*2# to cancel the activation. Once the plan is activated, it cannot be canceled; the plan will only expire at the end of the subscription period i.e. 7 days (prepaid) or 30 Days (postpaid) after purchase.

10. How do customers contact Customer Care while roaming?

Customers are required to dial +1 268 726 3444 to contact Customer Care while roaming.

Calls to Customer Care while roaming is charged the same rate as if calling a Digicel number, if the Roam Like You're Home is activated. That charge is ECD0.69 per minute for postpaid and ECD 0.80 per minute for prepaid.

11. How do I get to my voicemail while Roaming?

You simply dial +1 268 725 6245 to get to your voicemail.

Checking your voicemail while roaming will attract a cost. The call will be charged the same rate as if calling a Digicel number if the Roam like You’re Home is activated. That charge is ECD0.69 per minute for postpaid and ECD 0.80 per minute for prepaid.

12. Am I able to benefit from local promotions? E.g. Free after 3, Free Weekends etc.? 

No. You will not be able to benefit from any local offers or promotions while roaming.

13. If I am a prepaid customer with bonus credit on my account can this be used while roaming?

No. Bonus credit is a local promotion and will not be able to be used while roaming.
