Renée Edwards-Ambrose

Renée Edwards-Ambrose has proven that with hard work, dedication and persistence, anything is possible. Her bubbly and very charismatic personality creates a rippling effect of joy and happiness on the lives of people who come into contact with her. She is a wife, aircraft maintenance technician, amateur drag racer, plus model, mentor and entrepreneur. It is amazing how she finds the time to do all of the aforementioned.

Mrs. Edwards-Ambrose started her education at the Liberta Junior Secondary School, formally called the Liberta Primary School. In 1998, she placed 11th on the island and was afforded the opportunity to attend the Antigua Girls’ High School. She graduated from the Antigua Girls’ High School in 2003, where she secured eight (8) CXC subjects under her belt. Her love for Engineering led her to the Antigua State College Engineering Department where she graduated and obtained a Diploma in Automotive Engineering in 2005. She was later accepted into the Professional Pilot Programme at the Centennial College in Toronto Canada, where she successfully added her Pilot Licenses to her list of achievements in 2006. The last leg of her studies led her to the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School in where she studied Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering and attained her Guyana Civil Aviation Engineering License in 2011.

Renée is currently employed at LIAT 1974 Ltd. as an aircraft mechanic. She is also the founder of the Caribbean’s 1st all Female Drag Racing Team, Lady Horsepower Farm and the Team Manager of the drag racing team, Team Helter Skelter – Aeropost Racing, in Antigua. She recently launched her LadyMex workshop, where she and her team seeks to empower women by educating them about how they can to do minor tasks on their cars to prevent major repairs. Although her studies played an integral part in her becoming the professional that she is today, Renée still finds the time to engage in activities outside of professional development. Renée holds the records for being the fastest Antiguan woman (drag racing), the fastest woman to race at the St. James Raceway in Nevis and the fastest woman to race at the Pearls Speedway in Grenada. She was the 1st ever Antigua and Barbuda Sports Woman of the Year 2014 Nominee in Drag Racing. Apart from excelling in a testosterone filled environment, Renée loves fashion and modelling. She won the inaugural Carnival Plus Model International 2014 in Trinidad and Tobago, then went on to win the 1st ever Curvy Idol Competition in Atlanta Georgia in February of this year. She recently completed her +Wadadli by Rea Clothing line which she did in partnership with Ann King of AMK Fashions. The clothing line pays tribute to the Curvaceous Women of Antigua and Barbuda.

Renée believes in being the change that he would like to see. To that extent, she is the GoGirl Ambassador under the Women of Esteem Foundation in Antigua, where she empowers and educate young women between the ages of 10 and 17 about self-love and acceptance. She has also partnered with the Girls With Roots Organization in Trinidad where she is a motivational speaker.

One of her favorite quotes:

‘Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE, the word itself says I’M POSSIBLE!’ – Audrey Hepburn
