VIP TALK   

1. What is VIP?

The VIP product is a form of Closed User Group (CUG) which is available to non-corporate customers, i.e. individual Digicel customers. Both PrePaid and PostPaid customers will be eligible to use this service.

2. What is Closed User Group (CUG)?

Closed User Group (CUG) allows persons within a predefined “user group” to make and receive FREE calls within the same group. A monthly subscription fee applies for each member that joins the defined CUG.

3. How does VIP work?

You can set up groups of two's ( not exceeding four [4] groups), for one flat fee per month. Each member will have either a limited or unlimited amount of minutes to call the other members of the group. These minutes can be specific to particular time periods and the calls are FREE.

4. How many group sizes are available with the VIP plan?

There are four group sizes available: Group of 2 persons.

5. What are the advantages/benefits of VIP?

You are able to benefit from VIP calls at a cheaper rate than your regular calling rate.You can have multiple groups of VIP plans ( not exceeding 4 friends). 

You will have the option for the initiator (person initiating the group) to pay for the entire group.

6. How has the increase of the Special Telephone Call (STC) tax affected the VIP Plans?

Due to the recent 10% GCT added to STC tax the following changes will be made to the VIP plans.

For PrePaid customers the minutes in your plan will be reduced to account for the increase in new tax.

  • Therefore, your VIP Talk plan with 250 minutes has now been reduced to 240 minutes, while the subscription fee remains unchanged at $450.
  • Your VIP Talk Unlimited Plan with 1350 minutes has also been reduced to 1180 minutes, while the subscription fee remains unchanged at $900.

As a PostPaid customer, the tax will be charged as a line item on the PostPaid bill for all minutes used. The plan minutes and subscription fee will remain unchanged.

8. Will my SMS bundles be used when calling my VIP?

No. SMS Bundles will not be used when calling your VIP partner.

9. Is there a short code available to check which numbers I have a VIP plan with?

Yes. You may dial *145#snd to determine the list of groups they are in. You will get a response via SMS like the following:

“You are a member of groups ^GROUPLIST^. Please send *145*GROUP_ID# to retrieve details of selected group.”

10. Is there a short code I can use to determine the members of my VIP group?

Yes. You can dial *145*group_id*7#snd, to determine the members in their VIP plan.

You will receive a response via SMS like the following: “Your group members are ^NUMBERLIST^ and your expiry date is ^EXPIRE_DATE^.”

11. Can I join multiple groups simultaneously?

Yes. You can have a maximum of four (4) groups, not exceeding two( 2) persons to a group. Ie. four (4) friends.

12. If I am a Digicel PostPaid customer, can I create a VIP group with a PrePaid customer?

Yes. It is possible to have a VIP group created with any of the following combination of Digicel customers.

  • Prepaid ONLY
  • Postpaid ONLY
  • Postpaid and PrePaid (mixed)

 

13. Is the master pay option now available if I’m signing up for a group of two?

Yes. The master pay option is available for groups of two.

14. What is the maximum number of persons that can be in a group?

Each group can only have a maximum of 2 persons, however you are permitted to have up to 4 groups in total.

15. I am a PostPaid customer and chooses to join a VIP plan, will I be required to pay my regular monthly subscription in addition to a VIP subscription?

Yes. All PostPaid users will be required to pay monthly subscriptions for BOTH the VIP plan and their selected rate plan.

16. If I renew my VIP Voice plan before the expiration date, do I lose any days from my service?

No. If you renew the plan before it expires, the VIP application resets your expiry date to 30 days after your initial expiry date and NOT your renewal date. Therefore, you will not lose any time from the service.

17. Is there any time restriction on the activation process?

18. Is it possible for me to check my VIP Call minutes balance?

Yes. If you are a PrePaid customer, you can check your call minutes balance by dialling *145#snd. If you are a PostPaid customer you can call Customer Care to query you’re your call minutes balance. The PrePaid VIP balance that is given is quoted in monetary value.

Eg. If you have 50 VIP minutes, when the balance is checked, you will see $500 (50mins x $10 per min).

19. Is it possible for me to check my VIP SMS balance?

Yes. If you are a PrePaid customer you can check your SMS balance by dialling *120*2#snd. If you are a PostPaid customer you can call Customer Care to query your SMS balance.

20. If I am in a Corporate Closed User Group, can I join any of the plans?

No. VIP is only available to customers NOT in a Corporate CUG.

21. If I am a PostPaid customer, will calling my VIP affect my bundle minutes?

No. VIP calls do not affect your bundled minutes and will not affect Rollover minutes.

22. How will charges be displayed on my monthly bill as a Pospaid user?

The summary sheet of your bill will indicate the subscription fee for PostPaid accounts. Subscription for PostPaid accounts will be displayed as “VIP Subscription Fee”.

23. Do I need to change my Digicel telephone number to be a member of a VIP group?

No. You do not need to change your Digicel telephone number in order to be a member of a VIP. Digicel’s VIP service allows any combination of Digicel PrePaid and PostPaid numbers to be members of a Digicel’s VIP.

Once your Digicel number is added to a VIP, the system will recognize that you are part of the group, and not charge you when you call other numbers in that same group. Also, other members of the same will not be charged when they call you.

24. Can I include a number registered to another network in my VIP plan?

No. Only Digicel numbers can be included in a Digicel VIP. No other telecommunication service provider’s number can be included in Digicel’s VIP.

25. If I am a Prepaid user, can I still add Credit using phone cards?

Yes. As a PrePaid user, you will still be able to use all existing and available methods (e.g. Plastic cards, Direct Flex, Flex E etc.) to add credit to your account. Adding credit to your PrePaid user account will allow you to make calls to numbers outside the VIP or use any other Digicel service. You will need to top up in order to continue the service every month.

26. When I am roaming, will I pay for calls made to or received from other members of my group?

Yes. The benefits for VIP users are only available within the home network. Therefore once you are roaming, all roaming charges will be applied to your account.

VIP /Roaming Example #1: If a Digicel Jamaica customer is roaming in the USA and calls a member of his/her VIP in Jamaica, roaming call charges will be applied as per usual. (I.e. The customer will be charged at the regular roaming rates.)

VIP /Roaming Example #2: If a member of the in Jamaica calls another member of the who is roaming in the USA, the roaming member will be charged the applicable roaming charge, however the member in Jamaica will not be charged for making that call.

27. As a Prepaid user, will I still be able to use Digicel’s “Call Me” service?

Yes. “Call Me” will still be available to you as a PrePaid VIP customer based on the existing guideline. You will need to have less than $3 available PrePaid credit before you are able to send a “Please Call Me” message. Feel free to contact us for further details on how to use Digicel’s “Call Me” service.

28. Will I be able to make calls while my account is airtime expired as a Prepaid customer?

No. If your account becomes airtime expired during the period, you will not be able to make calls.

29. As a Postpaid customer, will I be able to make calls while my account is inactive?

If your account becomes one-way barred, two-way barred, suspended or terminated within the service period, you will not be able to make calls to persons in your group. If you are one way barred, you will be able to receive calls from members of your group (they will not be charged to call you).
